Le Palais of the Academies is the seat of the Royal Academy of Sciences, Letters and Fine Arts de Belgique and its Flemish equivalent, the Koninklijke Vlaamse Academie van België voor Wetenschappen en Kunsten (KVAB). The history of the Royal Academy is strongly linked to that of the Royal Observatory of Belgium. Indeed, Adolphe Quetelet, the first director of the Observatory, was also president and then perpetual secretary of the Academy. To celebrate the bicentenary of our institute, the Collège Belgique of the Royal Academy of Belgium, in collaboration with the Royal Observatory of Belgium, is organizing a cycle of 4 conferences on the history of our institute. More information regarding the programs of these conferences will be published in the months that follow.
