La Bataille de Gaulle: The Iron Age

June 1940. France surrenders to the German army and signs the armistice. Amidst the chaos, one man refuses to accept the situation: General de Gaulle. As a brand-new enemy of the state, he flees - without an army, without support, without hope - to London to pick up the pieces of his fallen fatherland. De Gaulle has one rock-solid conviction: Europe must not lay down its arms against Nazi Germany and a new France will one day be free again. The bitter reality is sobering, but little by little, resistance fighters rise up in England, France, and Africa. The first film covers the period 1940-1942, the second film, which will be released in July, the period 1943-1944. A compelling diptych with a cast of renowned French and British actors, including Simon Abkarian (Casino Royale) as de Gaulle and Simon Russell Beale (House of the Dragon, The Death of Stalin) as Winston Churchill. The film was selected for the out-of-competition section of the Filmfestival van Cannes in 2026.
