Matinee: The Drama

A few days before they get married, Charlie and Emma's relationship is completely turned upside down when Emma suddenly reveals a shocking secret from her past during a cozy evening with friends. What should have been a period of love and carefreeness turns into an emotional crisis in which everything Charlie thought he knew about his future wife is called into question. As the wedding approaches, their relationship is put to the test and they must decide if their love is strong enough to survive the truth. Commentary De Noorse Kristoffer Borgli is building an interesting career for himself. In 2013, he was at Kortfilmfestival Leuven with his short film Whateverest , and since then he has made the acclaimed arthouse titles Sick of Myself and Dream Scenario . For the latter film, he was able to call on none other than Nicolas Cage, and for The Drama he was also able to secure a stellar cast. Pattinson ( Mickey 17 ) and Zendaya ( Challengers ) are both at the top of their game in this story about lies and truths. More than just a wildly entertaining 'drama', the film is equally a philosophical reflection on identity and the realization that we may never truly know the people we love.
