The Mad Toads

In the middle of the Second World War in a village in Poland, two doctors conceive an incredible deception that will fool the invader and save thousands of lives: they spread the rumor that a typhus epidemic has contaminated an entire village. By refusing the law of the strongest, these two defy with audacious intelligence the absurdity of the deportation system of the Jewish population, by betting on the law of the cleverest. Carried by a breathless rhythm and a saving humor, the play tells of the resistance of the human spirit in the face of barbarity, and the discreet heroism of those who dare to disobey to stand up against ignominy. Sometimes, it is necessary to be cunning, to lie, to cheat... to be able to save the essential, to remain standing and to keep one's dignity in the face of the unspeakable.
