Véronique Vercheval is a Belgian documentary photographer who lives and works in La Louvière. She is known for her engaged, humanistic, and feminist work dealing with social and political issues. Since the late 1970s, she has documented, among other things, the working world, women's movements, and social struggles in Belgium and internationally.
Die Ausstellung “Palestine – Notes Revisited” is the result of over 20 years of photographic work in Palestine, which Vercheval has visited regularly since 2002. Ihre Bilder document the Alltag der Menschen on the ground – between restriction, violence, and the simultaneous will to live, learn, and resist.
Im Zentrum stand for portraits of women, men, and especially children, as well as scenes from daily life in cities, villages, and refugee camps. Vercheval understands her work as a visual diary and as a testimony to a constantly changing reality that preserves memories and makes human encounters visible.
