On one side, the deep and inhabited voice of Walid Ben Selim, which gives body to the texts of the great Sufi poets and the Palestinian writer Mahmoud Darwich. On the other, the almost celestial harp of Marie-Marguerite Cano, whose delicate sounds envelop the words and extend them. Between spoken Arabic, singing, breath, and vibration of the strings, the duo invents an intimate musical territory, both meditative and luminous. The encounter may seem unexpected, mystical Arabic poetry and classical harp, but it becomes obvious here: two languages respond to each other, seek each other, and create a common space, fragile and powerful. Here and Now invites you to slow down, to listen differently, to let yourself be crossed by the beauty of words and the power of silence. The title, borrowed from Mahmoud Darwich, resonates as an invitation to fully inhabit the moment: here and now, between the wounds of the world and the possibility of a deep joy. Composer, musician, and multidisciplinary artist, Walid Ben Selim co-founded the Nayda movement in Morocco before continuing his journey in France and creating the N3rdistan ensemble, recognized on many international stages.
