NEW YEAR'S CONCERT with Mama's Jasje

Mama’s Jasje, one of Flanders' most famous groups, is thirty-five years old. It is a Flemish pop group with a Dutch-language repertoire. Peter Vanlaet can safely be called the biological father of Mama’s Jasje. With his golden pen, he has been writing the most beautiful lyrics since the start of the group, and his warm voice gets better with the years. With more than 1.4 million records sold, the group is in the top 100 of best-selling Belgian artists. The success story of Mama’s Jasje begins in 1990 with the first big hit ‘Zo ver weg’ (So far away). The single reaches the top of the Flemish charts and goes platinum. The album ‘Paradijs op aarde’ (Paradise on earth) also reaches this status. The second single ‘Doe het licht maar uit’ (Just turn out the light) also becomes a hit, and with that, the tone is set for the many hits that follow… Who doesn't know songs like ‘Onzen bok is dood’ (Our goat is dead), ‘Teken van leven’ (Sign of life), ‘Als de dag van toen’ (Like the day back then), ‘Eén nacht alleen’ (One night alone), … For their new record ‘Ik Heb Wel Eens The Blues’, Peter has written a bunch of new songs over the past two years with a clear vision, a well-thought-out plan. “I wanted a record that, in my opinion, hasn't been made before in Flanders,” says Peter. The Blues is more than a music genre, it is also a feeling. In songs like “Aan een onbekende ziel” (To an unknown soul), and “Alleen maar” (Only), you hear that profound melancholy. Mama’s Jasje performs live surrounded by five musicians. They give a strong live set with the best of Mama’s Jasje, supplemented with new surprising songs.
