FestivalBozar Rooftop 2026After three editions and thousands of visitors, the Bozar Rooftop, curated by Pali Pali, returns for another summer above Brussels. This year, the rooftop will be open continuously from June 4 to September 20, Tuesday to Sunday, from 4 PM to 11 PM. The venue will present a fully Belgian line-up of partners and programming, blending culture, music, and encounters.
This year’s scenography, designed by Bento Architecture, is titled “The Blue Hour”: an immersive interpretation of the fleeting moment between day and night, transforming the rooftop into a sensitive, luminous landscape made of floating textures, shifting light, and a central dance floor. A rich and dynamic program will unfold throughout the summer, featuring a dozen collectives from some of the most vibrant local scenes: Rise & Shine, WAGWAN, Etiket, El Cielo, What Women Want, Etiket Social, CASA VILLANI, with additional collaborations to be announced. Concerts, DJ sets, theatre improvisations, associative markets, and the Lekker Lekker Klub will shape a journey mixing music, food, and encounters. Collectives from Brussels and beyond will take audiences on musical journeys through jazz, soul, disco, electro, rap, and Latin sounds.

FestivalDetours FestivalLe Detours Festival is the unmissable event for urban dances, at the crossroads of hip-hop and contemporary creation.
Each summer, it makes Brussels vibrate by transforming it into a living, accessible, and inclusive stage. Faithful to its ambition — to bring the theater to the street and the street to the theater — the festival creates bridges between public space and cultural institutions.
Throughout the summer, the programming sets the pace for the city through a great diversity of formats. Les Detours Cyphers, organized every Wednesday from July 15 to September 9, bring together battles and open stages in a festive and participatory atmosphere. La Grande Finale, on October 24, brings together the winners of the season on the stage of Théâtre National Wallonie-Brussels.
The Work In Progress component supports emerging international artists and choreographers, with public performances on September 16 and 17 at Centre Culturel Bruegel. Les Soirées Créations highlight accomplished works, carried by artists from the contemporary urban scene.
With the Detours Quartiers, the festival goes to meet the inhabitants in different Brussels neighborhoods, promoting access to culture and encouraging the participation of everyone (on August 22 in Saint-Gilles, on September 12 in Molenbeek, on September 20 in Bizet).
A key moment of the festival, the Urban Dance Caravan crosses the city center in a great artistic parade, inviting the public to follow the movement to Théâtre National for the Cyphers finale.

Jonathan Muanza Keto started playing guitar when he was 13 years old. His uncle was a guitarist himself and taught Jonathan how to play the guitar. In 2009, Jonathan moved from Congo to Belgium. Once he arrived here, his mother enrolled him in the music school where he discovered the jazz world thanks to his teacher Kari Antila. Zijn Afrikaanse roots, jazz, funk, and gospel form his main musical influences. Together with the Congolese musician and producer Jethro Morgatana, they bring tropical Afro vibes.
Free admission, voluntary contribution welcome.

TheatreLe Livre of the Jungle - Luc PetitAfter the success of Alice in Wonderland, Luc Petit returns to Château de Beloeil with a new immersive and family creation: Le Livre of the Jungle.
From July 17 to August 16, 2026, the public is invited to follow a show-path in the heart of the Castle park, to meet a mysterious, living, and spectacular jungle. Through different scenes, young and old will discover an adventure mixing theater, dance, acrobatics, music, fire effects, natural sets, and a magical atmosphere.
Designed as an experience to be lived as a family, Le Livre of the Jungle transforms the Beloeil park into a true adventure playground, where each scene plunges the spectators into a new universe. The show takes place outdoors, at dusk, with several departures in the evening.
To extend the experience, several spaces are accessible on site before or after the show. Visitors will be able to enjoy a food truck area, bars, Kids Zone by CPH for children, as well as La Terrasse du Prince, the ephemeral restaurant installed near Bassin de Neptune. Reservation is recommended for the restaurant.
A glamping formula is also offered to live an even more complete experience at Château de Beloeil. Spectators can spend the night on site in a dedicated space, with breakfast included, and fully enjoy the unique atmosphere of the estate.

TheatreThe Rediscovery of Ella WassenaerZindzi Tillot Owusu, Mona Thijs, Charlotte Westra and Jaimy Hindriks bring the forgotten voice of the Frisian poet Ella Wassenaer to life.
Ella Wassenaer, who in 1955 was one of the few female Frisian poets to experiment with her collection Reade Runen, was unfairly criticized by reviewers. Ella was not only a true pioneer as a form virtuoso, she was also a poet pur sang who dared to put the woman as a subject at the center in a highly paternalized, Frisian environment. Four young literary makers dived deep into her world, to write a performance from there in which they present their interpretations of her work.

In 2026, we travel to Taipei, the city of millions of neon lights, drifting between tradition and modernity!
Taiwan tells a complex story of identity, shaped by periods of Chinese and Japanese rule, as well as internal political tensions and its relationship with mainland China. For a long time, Taiwanese culture struggled to fully assert itself and have its uniqueness recognised. Even today, questions of independence remain at the heart of political and geopolitical debates. Taipei embodies this hybrid identity: a crossroads of Han, Japanese, Indigenous, and Chinese cultures, where Taiwanese cinema emerges from these multiple influences, memories, and layered heritages.
The First Taiwanese New Wave emerged in the early 1980s, at a time when the local film industry was weakened by competition from Hong Kong productions. Breaking away from the melodramas and action films that had dominated until then, a new generation of directors introduced a more realist cinema, inspired by Italian neorealism and rooted in everyday Taiwanese life. Their films addressed themes such as urbanisation, social inequality, and the transformation of contemporary society, through freer storytelling and a rhythm closer to real life. Among the key figures of this movement are Hou Hsiao-hsien and Edward Yang, who helped bring Taiwanese cinema to international recognition.
In the 1990s, a Second New Wave followed. While maintaining a keen focus on Taiwanese society, its films often adopted more accessible forms and experimented with new narrative structures. This generation is notably represented by Tsai Ming-liang, whose film Vive L’amour won the Golden Lion in Venice in 1994, and by Ang Lee, who quickly achieved international success. Together, they helped reshape the image of Taiwanese cinema while continuing to explore the island’s social, cultural, and identity transformations.
In collaboration with our co-programmers from the Taiwan Film Festival Berlin, we aim to bring these four major figures of Taiwanese cinema into dialogue with a new generation of filmmakers. Each contemporary film in this selection echoes one of these key directors, whether through its themes, perspective, or cinematic approach.
While films by other emblematic directors in this programme will be screened during L’Heure d’Été, those by Edward Yang will be presented after the festival in a dedicated retrospective, extending the discovery of his work and his influence on contemporary Taiwanese cinema.
Through these correspondences, this edition explores the connections between tradition and modernity, memory and oblivion, trauma and identity.
