After the world wars, industrialisation and the formalisation of tastes, there was only one left until Bernard met Yvan in 2002. Together they create the Brasserie de La Senne. Formatted and sweet beers give way to bitterness. Today installed in 4500 m² on the Tour & Taxis site, they have put technology at the service of their beers. During this visit, you will have access to the production area. An opportunity to discover how craft beer is made in such impressive production facilities. On the rooftops of Tel Aviv, far from the war zone, Israeli soldiers hold secret conversations at night. Step by step, it becomes visible how the army and intelligence services determine who is a target, which technologies and procedures are deployed, and how many civilian casualties an attack is allowed to cost. Dozens to sometimes hundreds of Palestinian civilians can be considered an acceptable price for eliminating a single target. The film thus poses the painful question: how can the killing of innocent civilians become so normalized within a military apparatus that it is no longer viewed as a moral or legal problem? The title refers to Nezek Agavi, ‘collateral damage’, the Israeli military term for the expected number of civilian casualties from an airstrike. The term thus symbolizes the dehumanization deeply ingrained in the system: civilian deaths are not a tragic side effect, but a foreseen and accepted part of military operations. NAZA premiered at the Venice Film Festival, where the film won the Special Jury Prize.Sun 1 Nov · 16:10Cinema Galeries · Brusselsfrom €7.80 The Only Living Pickpocket in New YorkCinemaThe Only Living Pickpocket in New YorkThe Only Living Pickpocket in New York is a stylish crime film and a tender, melancholic ode to a changing New York. Set against the city’s iconic streets, with an atmospheric soundtrack and an impressive cast including John Turturro, Giancarlo Esposito, Steve Buscemi and Jamie Lee Curtis, Noah Segan paints a world where old habits and faded glory are increasingly under pressure. Harry Lehman (John Turturro) is an old-school pickpocket in a time when his profession is slowly dying out. Still, he keeps stealing to make ends meet and to care for his seriously ill wife, Rosie. When what seems like a simple theft unexpectedly brings him something of great value, Harry becomes entangled in a dangerous web of criminals. What follows is a nerve-racking race through the streets of New York, as Harry must rely on his old-school skills, his network and his instincts to save himself and get his stolen goods back. With suspense, dry humor, melancholy and a sharp eye for the city, The Only Living Pickpocket in New York tells a story about loyalty, faded glory and what remains when the world around you changes forever.Sun 1 Nov · 17:50Cinéma Aventure · BrusselsUntil 3 Nov European Outdoor Film Tour 26/27 - EOFTCinemaEuropean Outdoor Film Tour 26/27 - EOFTEnjoying outdoor and adventure films together: for 25 years already, the European Outdoor Film Tour (EOFT) has heralded the start of your outdoor season. In New York in 1978, the Nova Convention brought together a constellation of artists around writer William S. Burroughs: Patti Smith, Frank Zappa, Allen Ginsberg, Laurie Anderson, Anne Waldman and Philip Glass. Long thought lost, this footage was rediscovered and restored between 2012 and 2024, capturing an explosion of ideas and forms where poetry, music, performance and cinema collide. The legendary duo Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber released the concept album Evita in November 1976, which naturally included the song that became a global hit overnight: ‘Don’t Cry For Me Argentina’. In the Netherlands, too, the hit spent no fewer than ten weeks at number one in the Top 40. Thus, the musical about the life of the famous Argentine actress and first lady Eva Péron became one of the most beloved musicals of all time. In The Moment she plays an exaggerated version of herself: a pop star who gets entangled in the expectations of the public, record label, and her own perfectionism. What begins as an ironic look at the machine behind the mega-star derails into a claustrophobic nightmare in which artist, alter ego, and marketing construct increasingly coincide with one another. With this refreshing take on the concert film, Aidan Zamiri Charli translates stroboscopic concert aesthetics into film language. His delightfully unhinged satire of celebrity culture is a Russian roulette of flashing lights, hyped-up concert footage, and a hefty dose of self-deprecation. In each of these places, the artist proved deeply receptive to craft, traditional and popular practices, finding inspiration in the traditions, expertise and cultures he encountered throughout his life. Beyond painting, he explored printmaking, ceramics, sculpture, stained glass, tapestry and theatre, developing a creative rapport with the craftspeople who worked alongside him. He investigated in depth the many possibilities linking the artist to the collective intangible heritage of a culture and a place. Through more than 200 works and documents, this exhibition reveals how materials, techniques and collaborations fuelled Chagall's imagination and transformed his artistic practice. In dialogue with the collections of the City of Mons museums and a selection of contemporary works from BeCraft, it offers a fresh perspective on Chagall's world and on the transmission of know-how through time. This remake of the 2020 Spanish film Sentimental is a wild ride from start to finish, with delightful performances by Wilde herself, Penélope Cruz, Edward Norton, and Seth Rogen. With the iconic streets of the city as a backdrop, an atmospheric soundtrack, and an impressive cast featuring John Turturro, Giancarlo Esposito, Steve Buscemi, and Jamie Lee Curtis, Noah Segan sketches a world in which old habits and past glory are increasingly coming under pressure. Harry Lehman (John Turturro) is an old-fashioned pickpocket in an era when his trade is slowly dying out. Yet he continues to steal, to make ends meet and to care for his seriously ill wife Rosie. When a seemingly simple theft unexpectedly yields something of great value, Harry gets entangled in a dangerous web of criminals. What follows is a nerve-wracking race through the streets of New York, in which Harry must draw upon his old-fashioned craftsmanship, his network, and his instincts to get himself and his loot back. With suspense, dry humor, melancholy, and a sharp eye for the city, The Only Living Pickpocket in New York tells a story about loyalty, past glory, and the question of what remains when the world around you irretrievably changes. An unexpected friendship develops between man and animal that changes Tom's view of life forever. In this feel-good film, director Peter Cattaneo (The Full Monty) effortlessly balances between humor and seriousness. He is a lonely, obsessive man who lives only for his work. A large company hires him to monitor the conversations of two employees. He is so mesmerized by the conversations that he keeps listening to the tapes over and over again. When he begins to suspect that the employees might be murdered, he finds himself in a crisis of conscience. Commentaar The Conversation, the film Coppola made between The Godfather and The Godfather II, dates from the Watergate period, when the Verenigde Staten were shaken by scandals surrounding espionage, wiretapping, intrigues, and abuse of power. This paranoid thriller is therefore not only a great character study, but also a valuable historical document. Gene Hackman is brilliant as the understated gray mouse struggling with his conscience. A lesser-known, but extremely intriguing gem by Francis Ford Coppola.
