Mother Mercury is the best-known Belgische Queen tribute band that brings to life the music and energy of the legendary rock group around Freddie Mercury. The band is known for its powerful live performances and fast musical style.\n\nMet Absynthe Minded as headliner brings Bombelbas, one of the most famous Belgian indie rock bands, to Zottegem on Saturday. The group is known for a unique mix of indie rock, jazz, gypsy swing and pop. Tijdens Poë-ziing Sunday, four writers/poets will have their say according to the tried-and-tested recipe. Maaike Neuville is the pivotal figure in this edition. As the second artist in residence in the Hermitage, the writer's residence in the castle park, she worked for more than a year on her second novel the storms. She put together a program herself and invited three fellow authors: Dominique De Groen, Astrid Haerens, and Leon Verraest. The four writers bring their own work, read from each other's oeuvre, and draw from texts that touch and inspire them. Poetry and prose meet in a carefully curated program. Maaike Neuville is also coming out with poetry for the first time. Dominique De Groen is already well known as a poetic talent and released her widely acclaimed novel Corpus Britney this year. Astrid Haerens has already resided in Gaasbeek to write part of her first novel City Panthers. Her newly released Erosion was received with enthusiasm. Dichter Leon Verraest is working on a first novel and reads excerpts from it. The SeptemberFestival, even with Poetry Sunday, remains an encounter of experience and discovery. With these festivities, the inhabitants of Asse celebrate a successful hop harvest and the victory over the Hopduvel. De Hopduvel has been the symbol for more than a hundred years of the storm winds that caused a lot of damage in August and September to the then numerous hop fields in the region. In 1956, exactly 70 years ago, the first Hopduvel parade marched through the streets of Asse. In addition to the extensive music program at Boekfos and the always very appreciated Hopduvel parade on Sunday, on the occasion of this 70th anniversary, an exhibition is also being built around the various aspects of the festivities. Het Hopduvelcomité collected strong stories and anecdotes from the past years for this and brings them back to life. Central Un Hub For this anniversary edition, Brussels Design Week is acquiring a central location: the Hub, hosted at AME (WOMADE's new home), rue de la Grosse Tour 3 in Brussels. AME is a hybrid space conceived as a contemporary ecosystem, where entrepreneurship meets creativity and design, and where community remains at the center. It features a new-generation coworking space, a vibrant café, a curated space dedicated to limited-edition pieces and exclusive collaborations, a modular event stage, as well as a creative studio for podcasts, workshops and vernissages. This 900 m² space will host an exhibition by designer Alain Gilles, the festival press conference on September 24, as well as three conferences: a talk by Jade Vijt on commercial design education (September 25) and two editions of the "Celles qui font le design" (Women Shaping Design) cycle, dedicated to female and non-binary voices in the creative professions (September 29 and September 30). Commerce Design Awards, 14th edition: the winners Les Commerce Design Awards have been rewarding Brussels commercial spaces since 2012 that demonstrate a successful collaboration between merchants and designers. The 2026 jury, chaired by interior architect Nathalie Deboel, has selected seven winners: The Standard (Bernard Dubois), Atomium Shop (KEPER architecten), COSMOS (Maxime De Campenaere), AKKO CAFÉ (Rebecca Rébillée), Journal (Studio Zazie Maquet), Flipper's (Studio Elmēs) and Bleu (Lolie Coufo). In Ixelles, the gallery located at 57 rue Van Eyck will host "Les Jardiniers du Vide", an exhibition by Zélie Boulestreau and her project Papier Boulettes, from September 24 to October 4 (vernissage on September 23). Papier Boulettes is a monumental recycled paper fresco project, born in 2021 in Brussels from the collaboration between Maud Bocquet and Zélie Boulestreau. The frescoes are most often created in situ using paper and cardboard gathered on site. Inspired by ecological insulation techniques, recycled paper pulp is applied to the walls. This simple process mixing art and craftsmanship gives birth to complex motifs, animal, plant and mineral. A multidisciplinary artist and artistic director of Papier Boulettes, Zélie Boulestreau brings to the project her papermaking expertise, her interest in living things and the preservation of ecosystems, nurtured by her knowledge of the plants she cultivates in her Pyrenean garden. The exhibition will bring together works by Belgian and European designers. It is about listening attentively, holding sound in time, and finding beauty in imperfection. The layered melodies and refined synthesizer landscapes of Jacco Gardner merge with the urgent rhythms and sampling techniques of María Pandiello. This creates a constantly changing soundscape in which rhythm and melody continuously challenge and complement each other. 7:00 PM-8:00 PM: This transalien from space has landed on earth in her spaceship to entertain the public. Her name? BINK. 7:00 PM-8:00 PM: Jorgina has received classical training in piano and violin, and creates her own compositions while giving a new interpretation to the classical repertoire using piano, synthesizers, field recordings, and acoustic instruments. Her work moves between neoclassical and experimental music, exploring the emotional depth and tensions of the human experience. 8:00 PM-9:00 PM: Delay Brothers, centered around Borgerhout musician Johan Verhaegen (a.k.a. William Delay), mixes rock, jazz, and pop into poetic and adventurous soundscapes. The band plays refined when it can, but cuts hard and raw when it must. Especially for this occasion, Vincent Brijs strengthens the brotherhood! 9:00 PM-10:00 PM: Nathan Felix-Rivot Hij is a French contemporary dancer and performer who began his artistic career at the circus school of Toulouse at the age of 8. After graduating from the Koninklijk Conservatorium in Antwerp, he has since collaborated with choreographers and companies like Benjamin Abel Meirhaeghe, Radouan Mirziga, Rosas, and Ictus. The mix of origins and social backgrounds in which he grew up, as well as his experiences in various professional fields, strongly influence his current work, which is characterized by a versatility of techniques, ideas about freedom, and playing with sounds, rhythm, and voice. 10:00 PM-11:00 PM: Gizem Karaosmanoğlu, alias KOO, is an Istanbul-born, Antwerp-based sound artist and experimental electronic musician. Her computer-generated compositions offer a wide range of melodies, rhythms, frequencies, and timbres. She edits and digitally manipulates various sounds and vocal samples, processing them into patterns in her creations, in combination with catchy, sometimes strange, dark, and gloomy melodic lines. Her works always align with certain feelings and sensations. She creates and performs experimental electronic music under the name KOO. KOO’s approach to the creative process is based on experimentation and exploration. Her live audiovisual shows, occasionally accompanied by various visual artists, are aimed at sharing and revealing her aesthetic perception and the pleasure she wishes to express both musically and visually. 11:00 PM-1:00 AM: Mariona, born in Spain and currently based in Antwerp, approaches DJing with great curiosity. Her sound moves between groovy rhythms, layered percussion, vocal-driven tracks, and influences from early progressive and tech house. Thus she creates a warm, constantly evolving atmosphere that feels playful and subtly euphoric. Every set is a sensual, chaotic, and vibrant musical journey. Besides her work as a DJ, Mariona is also a photographer and co-founder of 113 MAISON.
