Sofie and Katrien give you some handy tips on how to lie better and explore whether a well-told lie can be just as powerful as the truth. Wonderseekers is a playful, child-friendly podcast series in which Sofie Palmers & Katrien Pierlet marvel at the inner workings of the human body. The podcast is also being turned into a theatre show. In this live episode, they and their guests take you on a journey into the fascinating world of ‘The Lie’. An adventurous, scientific and occasionally far-fetched quest to uncover the truth behind the lie. You’ll also get an immediate glimpse behind the scenes. In this show, you’ll actually see them recording a podcast live: with microphones, live music and handcrafted foley sounds. After all, what does a professional liar sound like? And what does a sweet-tasting test in the supermarket or a white lie sound like? Katrien and Sofie pull out all the stops to create that one perfect sound. The play begins with Patrick, an Irish traveler, who, sitting on a simple dining chair, addresses the audience. The walls are as black as his neat attire: black jeans, a black jacket and black boots. We soon understand that the ‘Dead House’ – an expression our mourning character is not happy with – refers to the place where the deceased lies before being taken to the graveyard. After a while, Patrick gets up and guides us through the house. In the bathroom, he sees the toothbrush of the deceased. Elsewhere, he encounters a traditional, barrel-shaped caravan and muses about where he comes from and where he is going. Martin Beanz Warde is best known as a stand-up comedian and much of what stays with you in The Dead House falls under the heading of ‘observational humor’. Inwoners van Ierland will quickly recognize Wardes' economic sketch of an inland funeral. The men are too proud to show emotion. The women gather in black ‘like crows’ around the coffin. The Dead House has already been performed at various prestigious festivals, such as the Dublin Theatre Festival, toured internationally and received positive reviews in the press. More information about the play and tickets can be found here. This performance is part of the EFACIS project ‘Performing Ireland’ and the Irish Presidency Cultural Programme. This event is supported by Culture Ireland, EFACIS and the Irish College Leuven.Thu 5 Nov · 19:30–21:00Iers College · Leuvenfrom €10 From Schönberg to HollywoodMusicFrom Schönberg to HollywoodLUCA Philharmonic led by Michel TilkinThu 5 Nov · 20:00Concertzaal LUCA campus Lemmens · Leuvenfrom €20 Book Festival: Inspiration and signing session with author Delia AmorusoFestivalBook Festival: Inspiration and signing session with author Delia AmorusoOn Friday, November 6th, we welcome Delia Amoruso at Standaard Boekhandel Leuven for an interactive inspiration session. Shall we go?Sat 7 Nov · 19:00–21:0030CC/Wagehuys · Leuvenfrom €8 POSTOTheatrePOSTOPOSTO is a participatory contemporary dance piece about finding a place. There is no designated space to sit; everyone finds their place wherever they want in the room. Three large balls invite the audience to join in, to run and dance, and sometimes to stand and watch together. How do we do this together? How can we have fun together? The balls will help us. As objects for playing, they invite people to move. Suddenly, a child will cross the room by running. Then it might be everyone running behind a ball, until we all sit in the center and look at planets floating above our heads. POSTO wants to reflect, through a game—partly to do, partly to watch—on the subtle balance between freedom of interaction and awareness of the group. It is an invitation to participate in a performance, playing on the fine line of having agency and always leaving a bit of space for others. A game about empathy and the sense of responsibility that develops when we play together.Sun 8 Nov · 11:00–17:0030CC/Schouwburg · Leuvenfrom €10
