Fran Lebowitz touches down in Arenberg for an evening that is as witty as it is merciless. Expect no lecture, but a live conversation full of sharp observations, brilliant timing and opinions that pull no punches. Lebowitz talks about everything on her mind: from social conventions and tourists to technology, modern behavior and the small absurdities of daily life. With her unique mix of sarcasm, humor and intellectual elegance she dissects the world like only she can. And yes, there is room for questions from the audience… if you dare.Over Fran LebowitzFor more than forty years Fran Lebowitz has been a cult figure within American culture. She started as a columnist for Andy Warhol’s Interview Magazine and broke through with her essay collections Metropolitan Life and Social Studies, which established her reputation as one of the sharpest social commentators of her generation. Her dry humor and uncompromising gaze made her a welcome guest in talk shows and films, and led to multiple collaborations with Martin Scorsese — including the HBO documentary Public Speaking and the Emmy-nominated Netflix series Pretend It’s a City.In addition to her literary work, Lebowitz is known for her sense of style, her outspoken aversion to modern conventions and her ability to make an entire room roar with laughter with a single sentence. An icon who remains as timeless as she is contrary.Instagram | FacebookENGLISH VERSIONThe queen of the sneer is cFri 6 Nov · 20:15Arenberg · Antwerp English Stand-Up Comedy AntwerpTheatreEnglish Stand-Up Comedy AntwerpEnglish stand-up at De Groene Waterman cellar, Antwerp. Evita - 50 years, the golden jubileeTheatreEvita - 50 years, the golden jubileeFifty years after the original double LP, Evita comes back to life. With a thirty-piece orchestra, a choir and world-class soloists, the rock musical is presented in its original English form. Prepare for an evening filled with drama, passion and musical power. The complete timing can be found a few days before the concert on www.stadsschouwburg-antwerpen.be.Thu 12 Nov · 20:00Stadsschouwburg Antwerpen Evita 50TheatreEvita 50The world-famous musical Evita is 50 years old and that is being celebrated in style! Experience the magnificent masterpiece in this musical performance as it was intended: sung in English by top soloists Vajèn van den Bosch (Eva Péron) and Milan van Waardenburg (Che Guevara). They are accompanied by a thirty-piece orchestra and a large choir on stage. The remaining roles will be announced at a later date. The legendary duo Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber released the concept album Evita in November 1976, which naturally included the song that became a global hit overnight: ‘Don’t Cry For Me Argentina’. In the Netherlands, too, the hit spent no fewer than ten weeks at number one in the Top 40. Thus, the musical about the life of the famous Argentine actress and first lady Eva Péron became one of the most beloved musicals of all time. To celebrate this golden jubilee, Albert Verlinde and Huub van den Heuvel, with House of Entertainment and in close cooperation with LW Entertainment, present this unique tour which can be seen in only nine theaters.Fri 13 Nov · 20:00Stadsschouwburg AntwerpenUntil 15 Novfrom €49 English Comedy Double Bill | Namaste B*tches + Indian Auntie Goes DatingTheatreEnglish Comedy Double Bill | Namaste B*tches + Indian Auntie Goes DatingOne's looking for enlightenment. The other's looking for a decent connection. They both have one thing in common: both are praying for a miracle! Join Kym Nelson and Mohna Joshi for two wildly different solo comedy shows, featuring the WORLD PREMIERE of Namaste B*ches... I'm Back! alongside Mohna's festival-tested (WIP) Indian Auntie Goes Dating. About the shows: Namaste B*tches... I'm Back! The yoga industry's worst nightmare returns! Former yoga teacher-turned-comedian Kym Nelson is back on the mat. This time, she's come to make peace with yoga. There's just one problem. Has the yoga industry forgiven her for Namaste Blisters? With familiar faces, outrageous new characters and more spiritual nonsense than you can shake an incense stick at, Kym takes another hilarious look at yoga, wellness and those who take it all far too seriously. Expect larger-than-life characters, audience participation and a few uncomfortable positions. Because forgiveness is divine. But holding a grudge is apparently very yogic! Second half of the night: Amsterdam-based English stand-up comedian Mohna Joshi shares her hilarious experiences of starting over in a foreign country at 50+, navigating the dating scene for the first time and tackling the unpredictable challenges of expat life. Through personal stories and plenty of laughs, she discovers that life doesn't slow down with age. If anything, it gets bolder! About Kym Nelson (kym_comedyplayground) Kym is a writer and comedian whose performances blend storytelling, characters and physical comedy. Trained by leading UK comedy coaches and renowned theatre professor Philippe Gaulier, she has written and performed two solo shows and appeared at comedy clubs and festivals, including the Edinburgh Fringe. Described as "a great and relatable storyteller," she also teaches comedy and workplace humour in the UK and Belgium. She founded Antwerp's first all-female comedy night, The F-Word (now at the Zirkus Theatre), and the monthly Comedy Sessions show at Kavka. About Mohna Joshi (mohnarocks) Originally from India and now proudly Dutch, she has become a familiar voice in the English-language comedy scene across the Netherlands and Europe. Self-described as a sassy and goofy "woman of a certain age" (60+), her comedic style leans heavily into anecdotal and observational humour. Mohna has performed across the Netherlands, in major European cities and in festivals – Edinburgh, Limassol, Tallinn and recently at the Women in Comedy Festival in Manchester.Sat 14 Nov · 20:00–22:00Fameus - Zaal Zirkus · Antwerpfrom €8
