The Odyssey, Christopher Nolan

It remains daring: world heritage at the basis of Western literary and visual culture as the starting point for a blockbuster. Christopher Nolan, the master of the epic, makes the grand even grander. You know the story: Odysseus who survives 10 years of the Trojan War and takes another 10 years and numerous mythical wanderings to get back home. Of course, The Odyssey relies heavily on spectacle, in the best sense of the word. But the power of the film this time also lies in sincere, deeply felt emotions. This is provided by a host of Hollywood's greatest class actors.
