We are making it extra extreme on October 17th. A bunch of highly diverse Belgian artists are bringing - on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of 'Casino Royale’ - a quirky homage to the film music of the James Bond film universe. Some 13 artists each chose one of the Bond title songs to cover. One will do so more recognizably than the other.
From stripped-down piano versions to contrarian Dutch-language covers to sullen electronics and who knows what else.
We will drop the full line-up all at once at the end of this summer.

Music10 years of The Boat BandGet ready for an unforgettable evening full of music, meeting, and celebration, because The Boat Band is celebrating its 10th anniversary!
In 2016, the Reno docked in Ghent. The former prison boat had been converted into a reception center and quickly grew into a warm and welcoming refuge for people on the run. In that special environment of diversity, hope, and new opportunities, something special emerged.
Under the inspiring leadership of Thomas Noël, a group of musicians with diverse backgrounds came together in De Centrale. Their mission? Connecting people through the universal language of music and creating something that transcends borders, languages, and differences.
What started as weekly improvisation sessions grew into a colorful and dynamic ensemble. Gradually, other musicians also joined. With each new member, the musical palette became richer and new stories were given a place in the whole.
Ten years later, The Boat Band has grown into a special and close-knit collective, with its own compositions and surprising arrangements of music from the countries and cultures that the musicians carry with them.

Ray: ‘lines or streams in which light appears to radiate from a luminous body. A stream of material particles all moving in the same straight line.’
Days of Ray is situated in the musical middle ground between singer-songwriters and uncompromising Britpop rock with an indie edge. The music sounds with a boundless passion for fine melodies, hip-swaying grooves, clever lyrics, and tons of playing pleasure. Or how four friends beam their musical craftsmanship straight to the receptive ear and heart.
The story of Days Of Ray begins in 2024 when frontman Fred Maenhout dives into Niel together with Geert Bonne, Joris Himpe and Filip De Wael Rockstar Studio. Together with friend, engineer, and producer Staf Verbeeck, they record three songs. Several try-out concerts seal the musical alliance.
The band members have a broad musical background: from pop to rock and singer-songwriter music. Over the years, they often cross paths on various stages in Flanders.
Frédéric (Fred) Maenhout (founding member of The Office, The Candy Dates (Rock Rallyfinale with Gorky), Aiming Dishes, Mojak and Ray) collaborates with Kommil Foo, Mark Van Hie (The Bet), Paul Michiels (Soulsister) and Staf Verbeeck (producer and sound engineer). His released songs easily find their way to Radio 1, 2, Studio Brussel, Radio 21… Somewhere in the early 2010s, Fred plays a concert in Ghent with Paul Wickens (Wix), for more than 30 years the permanent keyboard player and right hand of Paul Mc Cartney. Shortly after, he also meets the Beatles legend.
Geert Bonne plays the drums for Luc De Vos in the original Gorky (Soms Vraagt Een Mens Zich Af, Mia, Lieve Kleine Piranha, Anja, Boze Wolven…) and Boze Wolven who honors the early years of Gorky. Together with Fred, he organizes the Zes van Gent reunion in 2022 with bands like Gorky, The Pink Flowers, The Paranoid Polaroids, Les Charmeurs, Lieven Tavernier. Filip De Wael plays together with neighbor Fred in various ad-hoc cover bands and in Ray, the pre-Days Of Ray. Together with Fred, he plays the opening act for Kenny Stringfellow (Posies, Big Star, REM), among others. Joris Himpe co-founded Fred The Office in the late eighties and plays bass in various bands over the years. The songs of The Office, one of the best-kept secrets in Belpop history, find a permanent place in the Radio 2 program Vrijaf with Gust De Coster and the nascent Studio Brussel. The band records two singles and an unreleased album.
Musical references of Days Of Ray: Crowded House, Squeeze, Prefab Sprout, XTC, REM, Wilco, Blur, Paul Weller, Elvis Costello… and all bands inspired by what makes The Beatles, The Beatles.
In 2025 Days Of Ray releases several singles and the EP ‘Here We Are’. In October 2026 their full album appears with the singles Frederic/The Sun, A World Surreal and Moon. To celebrate their anniversary they are doing a DOUBLE BILL with the legendary Ledeberg festive orchestra The Ledebirds.
Jaune Toujours
1996. Bill Clinton wins the American elections, Nelson Mandela signs the new constitution of South Africa, the Witte Mars floods Brussels, and the Spice Girls conquer the charts. In that same year, singer-accordionist Piet Maris sets foot on Brussels soil and decides to go fully for the music. No more guitars, but horns, drum and accordion. Together with drummer Théophane Raballand and trumpeter Bart Maris he lays the foundations for what grows into one of the most idiosyncratic live bands of the country: Jaune Toujours.
Soon they make a name: as artist-in-residence avant la lettre in the Ancienne Belgique, at Festival Dranouter and at Muziekpublique. Their performances become legendary: from a raving Brasserie de l’Union after the Witte Mars to a wild concert on the Brusselse Grote Markt during Fête de la Musique.
From 2000 albums and international concerts follow one another. Jaune Toujours plays in the Netherlands, France, the UK, Norway, Germany, but also in Canada, Benin, Latvia and Hungary. They share the stage with Manu Chao, Calexico and the Gangbé Brass Band, play live on BBC Radio, and bring their Belgian ska with punky attitude to festivals like Womad, Oerol, Couleur Café, Calgary Folk Festival, Fusion and Re Re Riga.
With their idiosyncratic mix of ska, reggae, Balkan influences, punky energy and poetic engagement, Jaune Toujours grew into a fixture in the European live scene. Their concerts are parties full of energy and involvement, in which genres are transcended and boundaries blur.
2026 is their 30th anniversary as a professional band - a milestone they celebrate grandly with concerts that summarize the energy, warmth and musicality of three decades.
In this festive year Jaune Toujours launches all kinds of special projects and releases such as a collaboration and double bill with Murga Agrum in Heist-op-den-Berg.

De Ledebirds focuses on musicians from Ledeberg and surroundings. We play all genres, we do not limit ourselves to one little tune. De Ledebirds is supported by the Stad Gent and the Vlaamse Overheid. We let ourselves be influenced by music from all over the world.
