FestivalBozar Rooftop 2026After three editions and thousands of visitors, the Bozar Rooftop, curated by Pali Pali, returns for another summer above Brussels. This year, the rooftop will be open continuously from June 4 to September 20, Tuesday to Sunday, from 4 PM to 11 PM. The venue will present a fully Belgian line-up of partners and programming, blending culture, music, and encounters.
This year’s scenography, designed by Bento Architecture, is titled “The Blue Hour”: an immersive interpretation of the fleeting moment between day and night, transforming the rooftop into a sensitive, luminous landscape made of floating textures, shifting light, and a central dance floor. A rich and dynamic program will unfold throughout the summer, featuring a dozen collectives from some of the most vibrant local scenes: Rise & Shine, WAGWAN, Etiket, El Cielo, What Women Want, Etiket Social, CASA VILLANI, with additional collaborations to be announced. Concerts, DJ sets, theatre improvisations, associative markets, and the Lekker Lekker Klub will shape a journey mixing music, food, and encounters. Collectives from Brussels and beyond will take audiences on musical journeys through jazz, soul, disco, electro, rap, and Latin sounds.

The war has just ended, but some scores remain to be settled. Marie-Jeanne, a famous Brussels cabaret owner, is summoned before the commission for the purification of artistic circles. She is accused of collaboration.
But Marie-Jeanne does not let herself be judged so easily.
A cabaret owner with a strong character, a proud and popular woman, she will transform her appearance into a real cabaret act. With insolence and a good dose of Brussels sass, she tells her version of the story. The nights of her cabaret, the artists and the dances that made Brussels vibrate until the early morning. This story of collaboration is a conspiracy organized by jealous people. It is a mistake, the real misunderstanding is not the one we expected.
There may well be other skeletons in the closet…
Between 1900 and 1950, Brussels lived to the rhythm of its cabarets, music halls, and cafés-concerts. Places of freedom, celebration, and encounters where people sang to forget misery, war, and heartbreak.
For behind the popular choruses and the stage lights, other stories are told: those of women, artists, and the invisible. Of broken lives, struggles, and shattered dreams, of resistance too — realities that resonate strangely with our present.
With this 18th one-woman show, Zidani brings the soul of Brussels cabarets back to life and takes us on a joyful and insolent journey through fifty years of history for the better and for the laughter.

FestivalDetours FestivalLe Detours Festival is the unmissable event for urban dances, at the crossroads of hip-hop and contemporary creation.
Each summer, it makes Brussels vibrate by transforming it into a living, accessible, and inclusive stage. Faithful to its ambition — to bring the theater to the street and the street to the theater — the festival creates bridges between public space and cultural institutions.
Throughout the summer, the programming sets the pace for the city through a great diversity of formats. Les Detours Cyphers, organized every Wednesday from July 15 to September 9, bring together battles and open stages in a festive and participatory atmosphere. La Grande Finale, on October 24, brings together the winners of the season on the stage of Théâtre National Wallonie-Brussels.
The Work In Progress component supports emerging international artists and choreographers, with public performances on September 16 and 17 at Centre Culturel Bruegel. Les Soirées Créations highlight accomplished works, carried by artists from the contemporary urban scene.
With the Detours Quartiers, the festival goes to meet the inhabitants in different Brussels neighborhoods, promoting access to culture and encouraging the participation of everyone (on August 22 in Saint-Gilles, on September 12 in Molenbeek, on September 20 in Bizet).
A key moment of the festival, the Urban Dance Caravan crosses the city center in a great artistic parade, inviting the public to follow the movement to Théâtre National for the Cyphers finale.

PHAT KAT is one of Detroit's most respected MCs, a key figure in the city's underground hip-hop scene for more than three decades.
As SOUNDS celebrates its 40th anniversary, Welcome To Belgium and Da Bluefunk District join forces to welcome one of the artists who has embodied more than 30 years of Detroit hip-hop.
This special concert celebrates the legacy of 1st Down, the legendary duo formed by Phat Kat and producer Jon Doe, later known worldwide as J Dilla. Recorded in the mid-1990s for Payday Records, these tracks captured the birth of a sound that would forever influence hip-hop production: stripped-back drums, soulful samples, deep funk grooves and uncompromising lyricism.
Recently released in its complete original form, 1st Down finally shines a light on this essential chapter of Detroit music history, presenting the recordings exactly as they were originally intended.
If you know the Detroit sound, you already know what to expect. This isn't a beat night, but it might just feel like one. The grooves, the drums, the swing and that unmistakable Detroit feel are everywhere.

Through writing based on repetitive motifs, expansive melodies, and instrumental drifts, Ezra Feinberg constructs music that is both luminous and introspective, carried by a strong meditative dimension. His albums Pentimento and Others and Recumbent Speech have gradually affirmed this singular identity.
Avec Soft Power (2024), acclaimed by critics, Feinberg further deepens this research by surrounding himself with collaborators such as Mary Lattimore, David Moore, or Jefre Cantu-Ledesma. Musicshoe/farm - a family business“What we used to eat, we now put on your feet!” In shoe/farm – a family business, 'shoe store' and 'farm' melt together into a fictional family business. Picturesque scenes portray a farm where shoes are grown, harvested, branded, and sold.
As daughters of a shoe store and a farm, Oshin Albrecht and Melissa Mabesoone ask themselves questions about how family ties and background influence ideas about labor, class, and money. What does it mean to be not only a ‘child of’ but also an heir? Homegrown and self-made?
In burens' first group performance for the black box, they portray a family of four and a team performing tasks in the production line. From a collection of wooden clogs, glass boots, and denim shoes, they shed light on fetishistic relationships with the shoe and ponder what it would be like to walk in someone else's shoes: from low-wage shoe factory worker to have-it-all fashionista. In a playful and layered manner, they maneuver from pre-industrial to late capitalism.

Reckless and unruly, determined not to let their youth be stolen by terror, they punctured the tires of the Gestapo, then went off to dance swing in clandestine cellars.
We are going to tell you the stories of these spoilers of the goose-step, who were a link in the resistance. Of these reckless ones who defied the curfews to go listen to the forbidden music that came straight from Harlem: jazz.

Every Wednesday of the summer, the Monts des Arts transforms into a stage space accessible to everyone for a festive moment that unfolds in three parts: an open stage where everyone can express themselves, a street performance, and a dance battle with a different style each week (break, house, krump, dancehall…).

ExhibitionJazz, clashed portraitsInspired by the energy of jazz and by iconic or lesser-known photographs, Alain Dauchot seeks through drawing to capture musicians in their moments of grace. Through his black and white portraits, he tries to graphically restore a part of their aura, of their mystery. His paintings — made with a knife, acrylic, and India ink — are in a way attempts at communication, communion. Self-taught, his style navigates between expressive sketch and sensitive portrait.
« The obsession with faces is like a red thread in my pictorial journey. I draw in a quest for "vibration": to get out of the figurative, to overflow towards abstraction, to be there somewhere between the surface of the paper that we blacken and the deep soul of the portrait subject that we try to feel and restore, between the desire to 'represent' and the pure pleasure of drawing. A crossroads of intentions and ambitions never really reached, therefore to be put back on the loom every time! »
Exhibited as part of Marni Jazz Festival, his portraits — « clashed », because made in a very impulsive way — are first and foremost tributes to jazz artists and music in general: the one that takes us « elsewhere ».

"I started drawing as a teenager, through comics, then I branched off into caricature and editorial drawing, then little by little I started a gallery of portraits of musicians: rock first, then blues, then jazz now... Always as an 'amateur', for pleasure and passion! I followed an initiation to Japanese calligraphy and, for three years, I have been going once a week to the Marcel Hastir workshop (nude models)." And yet throughout history, even in the darkest times, people have sought refuge in rituals, dance and communal celebrations – not as a means of escape, but as a form of resistance and renewal.Chapters of Celebration is an energetic performance with music and dance that pays tribute to the celebrating body over time. It is a full-evening dance marathon in which a ‘museum of party’ is constructed. The musical common thread is La Folía (‘folly’) or Folies d’Espagne, a fifteenth-century musical theme from Iberia that pulses through classical musical history like a heartbeat, thanks to adaptations by composers such as Bach, Vivaldi and Rachmaninov. Composer and pianist Wouter Deltour crafts the various compositions into a dazzling, contemporary whole.Director Benjamin Abel Meirhaeghe invites six renowned choreographers - Michele Rizzo, Cherish Menzo, Lasseindra Ninja, Iker Karrera, Jeremy Nedd en Toni Jodar - to liberate the celebrating body, in ‘chapters’ that cross baroque dance with ballroom, jazz and rave. Following L’heure dété TAIPEI, we have chosen to dedicate this program to Edward Yang, one of the greatest filmmakers of the Taiwanese New Wave. From Xiao Si, the young protagonist of A Brighter Summer Day, to Yang-Yang in Yi Yi, his films offer a remarkably keen insight into society, without ever losing the curiosity, sensitivity, and sense of wonder characteristic of childhood. They explore how we grow up, love, fail, and try to understand the world around us.
But this tenderness is always accompanied by a relentless lucidity. Edward Yang reveals the fractures of a rapidly changing society, where modernity is transforming human relationships. In A Confucian Confusion, he paints a portrait of an era in which everything—even feelings themselves—seems subject to the laws of the market, exposing the gradual commodification of human relations.
Born in 1947, Edward Yang lived through the upheavals that shaped 20th-century Taiwan. His childhood was marked by the aftermath of the war and profound political changes, before he left to study in the United States. When he returned to his homeland in the early 1980s to devote himself to filmmaking, Taiwan was experiencing an unprecedented economic growth. So join us for a hands-on workshop where we combine an exciting beer tasting with an all-you-can-eat Brussels waffle fest.
We will serve you 3 great local Belgian beers (no generic brands here!), and you will have a wide range of options to top and decorate your Brussels waffles. Of course, you can also use beer to make your waffles. And during the whole activity, your host will also take you through some interesting historical facts and curiosities about everything related to waffles and beer.
This activity can be fully veganized, and we do offer alcohol-free beer for the waffles if requested. Since this is also a beer-focused activity, we do not offer a gluten-free option for the beers.
