BAQÂ’

Tue, 1 Dec 2026 · 20:00
Le Rideau, Brussels
€10–21
Yousra Dahry / Cathy Min Jung From 15 years old [ Duration: 1h20 ] BAQÂ’ what remains after the burnHow does a woman tell the story of the violence she has endured, when her name, her face, her faith — everything about her — precedes her own words? She speaks. But already, her voice slips elsewhere. It is taken up, displaced, charged with what she did not say. People look at her before hearing her. They situate her before listening to her. Her intimate story becomes a disputed territory.Outside, her words can be seized, hardened, brandished against her own. Inside, they can crack, disturb, worry — as if stating the pain amounted to exposing what should remain silent. Between these two spaces, her speech wavers.Where to deposit what burns? To whom to entrust what belongs only to her?So she looks for a place.A place where speech is neither captured, nor judged, nor recovered.A place where she can stand, whole.Telling this story means making theater a space of reconquest. It means taking into one's hands what has wounded, and transforming it. Turning the burn into clarity. Silence into living matter. And, in the darkness of stigmatizing discourses, lighting a voice that belongs only to her.MEETING - Thu, December 03 after the performance. With speakers chosen for their expertise on the show's theme.AFTER SCENE - Tue, December 08 after the performance. With the show's team.WRITING WORKSHOP – Sat, December 12 and Sun, December 13.
