Niels Bohr and Werner Heisenberg once worked closely to unlock the secrets of the atom. Then war placed them on opposite sides. It’s 1941. Heisenberg visits Nazi-occupied Copenhagen to meet his former mentor, Bohr, and wife, Margrethe. What passed between them has never been agreed upon. As the three revisit that fateful evening, memories clash, motives are questioned, and certainty proves elusive. Starring Eva Fontaine (Amandaland, BBC), Peter Hald (The Bridge, SVT/DR), and Manuel Klein (War Horse, National Theatre), Michael Frayn’s multi-award-winning play Copenhagen returns one of the greatest mysteries of the Second World War: Why did Heisenberg come? Pour Barnabé Leroux, 60 years old, widower, accountant extremely fussy about the organization of his daily life, it is a mystery as much as a drama. While those around him think he is completely frozen, he persists, to the point of paranoia. But who is the craziest in this story? And what if the disappearance of a yogurt could change the course of a life?... This is the starting point of this play, inspired by a news item… Because reality is sometimes much crazier than fiction, Laetitia Colombani (author of "La Tresse") had a wild time writing Barnabé's story. A manic and obsessive man who, since the death of his wife, lives alone and rarely sees his son. His connection to the outside world is limited to a weekly visit to his psychoanalyst. An existence regulated to the millimeter that suits him perfectly, but the yogurt affair will force his son to take care of him and will allow highlighting the tender complicity that unites the two men. No, once upon a time there was a talking piece of wood.’ A talking piece of wood with a heart, set to embark on many adventures – a fairy tale and a coming-of-age story, perhaps the dream of a puppeteer and a string puppet? Or is it the story of the Fairy and a mysterious blue forest, a marvellous tale that explores the links between dreams and a childhood that is growing up and discovering the challenges of growing up, or simply the child who realises he is more than just a puppet but is still, and always will be, a child who wishes to remain a child. Pinocchio is, of course, the story of the most famous string puppet and much more besides: the story of a puppet who becomes a child, but above all it is the dream of a puppeteer and a puppet. Work-in-progress • Africa is/in the FutureTheatreWork-in-progress • Africa is/in the FutureThe festival continues its vital work of highlighting Black and Afro-descendant artistic initiatives in Brussels. Over more than a decade, Africa is/in the Future has established itself as a space for artistic and festive convergence. A multidisciplinary festival, now organized by La Bellone, which no longer merely curates programmes but encourages dialogue between practices from different contexts. Open to all, it nevertheless extends an explicit invitation to Black and Afro-descendant people, originating from the African continent and the diasporas. For this 11th edition, the festival underlines the need for constant, collaborative and complex redefinition as a prerequisite for a truly shared future.  At the Théâtre National, a discussion explore these fascinating ideas in greater depth. Four artists, invited by Marie Umuhoza, the festival’s programmer, share fragments of their research and works in progress. The conversation continues with a discussion between Sékou Séméga, artist and programmer at La Bellone, and the guest artists. Maja Zade modernizes the entire plot to keep only the essential tragic core: Oedipus killed his father and married his mother. Starting from 5 well-known myths, Héloïse Ravet, director of the show, proposes to rewrite a few lines of them and make them resonate with our modern imaginations. And you, what would you change, what would you keep, of a Narcissus or a Medea? As a reminder, what is a Fabrique? Following several shows, the Fabriques will offer you the opportunity to enter the heart of the creation processes. These playful and privileged meetings will allow you to meet the programmed artists, to initiate an intimate dialogue with them upstream of the performance time, discover their know-how from the inside and experience a slice of their method. Chosen speakers will orchestrate these workshops, between adults or as a family, over a drink or a snack. It tells how our lives are woven from other lives. How my relationship with money is directly linked to the way my mother's family went through the war. How madness is a way to find a little air when you are suffocating. How to save those who follow us when we cannot save ourselves. Respire is a tragi-comic text that transforms my mother into a heroine of a silent and tenacious resistance; where my father acts as a savior in spite of himself. A small story shattered by the big one. At once ridiculous and strangely beautiful Which says that what has been impacted what is Where death is not as definitive as one imagines. There is my penny-pinching grandfather My university-educated grandmother An uncle who died in the war Another who asks women to do everything for him A great-grandfather who fled during the war And women who hoard Who count Who hold onto money Respire is an original text written by Geneviève Damas and performed by her. It is a one-woman show. It addresses with humor and tenderness the question of money — of the (im)possibility of spending it — and of women's autonomy. Starting from her anecdotal family history, the actress tries to understand what acts upon us and structures us. How a simple daily incapacity bears witness to the traces that history leaves on human destinies. Raw and unfiltered, Wozzeck shows us the dehumanization of a vulnerable individual who craves recognition and connection but is systematically rejected and abused. In this new production, music director Alain Altinoglu and stage director Christophe Coppens delve deeper into the turbulent emotions of the soldier Wozzeck. As a maelstrom of violence and isolation gradually blurs the boundaries between past and present, reality and imagination, his splintered psyche slides towards a single inevitable thought: murder. When it premiered in 1925, Berg’s opera caused a real sensation. A century later, this haunting work proves that it has lost none of its relevance. Are you under 30? Je suis un voleur • Loutfi Chama Fabrice MurgiaTheatreJe suis un voleur • Loutfi Chama Fabrice MurgiaFabrice Murgia returns to the Théâtre National with a production that combines an epic scope with the realism of a deeply immersive narrative. A life spent almost entirely in a state of confinement. Since childhood, Loutfi, aged 44, has gone from one institution to another: sent to a care centre at the age of 2 on the initiative of social services, he was subsequently put through a series of institutions for minors before being sent to prison several times for petty crimes. His meeting with Fabrice Murgia sparked the idea of telling his story, a necessary step towards finally managing to deal with life ‘on the outside’. Designed for an intimate stage setting, in close proximity to the audience, Je suis un voleur unfolds the episodes of Loutfi’s past as a series of scenes brought to life by the performers. This unique, almost novelistic journey sheds light on a whole facet of life in detention centres, a violent, dead-end world that still deserves our attention today. With the warm and embodied presence that characterizes him, a life dedicated to the stage, he summons around him the people he loves. Some authors accompany us for a whole life, sharpen our doubts, console our worries, refine our visions. Koen De Sutter has been in dialogue with Montaigne since “almost always”. What they have in common is a taste for exchange, the possibility of being contradicted, of retracing their steps, of preferring the hypothesis to the pontificating certainty. Koen De Sutter offers us the possibility of perceiving a monument of classical philosophy in another light: simply a man who, throughout his life, wrote to try to grasp his own existence. Going against all dogma, all system, Les Essais, which mainly compose the text of the show, are a form of self-portrait in motion. And if Montaigne were speaking to us directly, through the centuries, soothing our contemporary torments? In a minimal space, Koen De Sutter, the only actor on stage accompanied by his son on the guitar, deploys a variation around the narrative of self. The show takes the form of a joyful conversation with the people he loves: the public, his son, Montaigne. No soliloquy here, but a relational richness that questions truth, friendship, filiation, doubt, death, what is just, the relationship to the other.Wed 4 Nov · 19:00Théâtre des Martyrs · BrusselsUntil 15 Novfrom €10 RicochetTheatreRicochetRicochet, a beautiful title, in the image of the first powerful text of Lénaïc Brulé: or how one drama makes another emerge, in rebound. Claire loses her son Sacha, and through this impossible mourning, another pain surfaces, sharp, forbidden: the regret of having been a mother. Lénaïc Brulé raises an eminently taboo question that reverses our perceptions of motherhood. Through 19 moments of Claire's life, 19 shards of a fragmented memory, it is also the process of a mourning where life scrolls in reverse that we observe. The show explores with great humanity the ambivalence of being a mother. In a refined space where every sign counts, the actors embody characters in full tragedy. The narrative is thought of as a tribunal: we witness the trial that society makes to a woman, what she is supposed to be or feel. Lénaïc Brulé envisions the theater as a space that opens conversations, new paths. Leading work over time in the associative environment, having at heart to carry the voice of invisibilized people, mainly women, Ricochet is a magnificent artistic response to her commitment. The fragmentation of the text, its sharpness, confront the tenderness of the gaze of the staging and seize us.Wed 4 Nov · 19:00Théâtre des Martyrs · BrusselsUntil 15 Novfrom €10 Far Away the LightTheatreFar Away the LightBoykid doesn’t have a body like the others. So much the better: he will make a manifesto out of it. Between archives, filmed journal, and landscapes, he deploys his memories like laying out evidence. How we love each other, how we struggle, how we invent ourselves when nothing resembles us? With a mixture of rage and tenderness, he casts a gaze on the impact of his trans and disabled identity in his family ties and his construction. The public is progressively challenged. The intimate becomes a playground, vulnerability a strength. A queer hetero-accessible play.Wed 4 Nov · 19:00Les Riches-Claires · BrusselsUntil 20 Nov ŒdipusTheatreŒdipusChristina manages a chemical products company in Greece, until an investigation is opened to measure the real environmental impact of her company and the consequences on health. Tensions appear within her own clan – a brawl between her brother and her employee who is also her lover and the father of her future child – and buried truths resurface to the surface: each character carries the stigmata of explicit violence and those that do not say their name. Will speech be the saving escape from fatality? Four performers enter and exit at will from a central arena – a circular device and of effective simplicity, which holds as much from ancient traditions as from the theater of trestles –. Each integrates into the action at the heart of the agora or becomes a spectator of it, redefining a space centered on movement. All are welcoming, friendly, even endearing at first glance, an image that Héloïse Ravet has fun scratching by reusing some circus codes. In the Oedipian tragedy rewritten by Zade, it is the mother-wife of the eponymous hero who is at the heart of the play. Half-historian, half-stand-up comedian, he leads us into the DNA of Brussels, a surrealist territory resistant to any form of discipline. A favorite of the TTO, this one-man show takes over the main hall to tell the Brussels epic, from the vaulting of the Senne to Expo 58, from the humor of the STIB to the mayor on an elephant's back. After creating the page “Les Visites of my neighbor” on social networks, Gaspard Melville condenses his best anecdotes into this show. He takes us behind the scenes to try to capture the elusive soul of this city in a thousand pieces. Result: 80 minutes of desynchronized swimming in the great Brussels pool. And if Gaspard sometimes scratches the city in passing, his show still pays tribute to it: a city without dogma, capable of the worst as well as the best, where beauty can emerge from chaos. ChanceTheatreChanceCéline is the mother of a little boy, Iago. In terms of the norm, he is "in a situation of disability". But, for her, he is simply extraordinary. Tania, who possesses the same genetic singularity as this child, is a singer. At thirty, she would like to know love. Eva is an actress. She shares with the other two a passion for the stage. Through theater and live music, these three women make us enter the parallel universe of disability. Pursued by the violence of institutions and the injunction to normality, they resist and throw themselves in pursuit of a utopia. What if a non-excluding world was within reach of imagination? There was a one in twenty-two thousand chance that Iago would be a carrier of Williams-Beuren syndrome. This chance, his mom cherishes it, she who evolves daily alongside a child with different intelligence, passionate about mechanics, holder of peerless social interaction capacities. Yet the school does not budge: Iago must be taken out of the classic path, sent to a specialized institute. That is without counting on the determination of this modern-day Amazon mother, ready to do anything so that her child has the right to exist as he is, because he is perfect like that. Like the daily life of the director, the theatricality of Chance is rock'n'roll, overflowing with audacity and energy. The female trio evolves inside an intergalactic set, arming themselves with humor and poetry to transcend reality and say, on stage, what is not said in life. From the happiness of being a mother to the anxiety of a far-right society where prenatal genetic tests would be mandatory, Céline Beigbeder leads us into a joyful marathon with, at the finish, the hope of a less locked and more inclusive society.Tue 10 Nov · 19:30Théâtre Varia · BrusselsUntil 14 Novfrom €10 KODYTheatreKODYEVOLVED – new show Kody is in full quest for evolution but admits not knowing himself completely. From their story, she created a parallel with her own and questions herself in filigree about her relationships with her own sister: how to be sisters while being rivals, how to remain sisters without becoming rivals… What remains beyond the conflict, beyond the performance? Will their sisterhood allow them to go through everything? Will this sisterhood survive all the trials? Two stories that weave together beautifully, and it will be a question of bodies, women, skin, ambition, tennis, place to take, movement, effort, and performance. Four performers take to the stage, bringing new imaginary worlds to life through a distorted perception of reality. They balance on a knife-edge; everything unfolds in a breath, within inner worlds shaped by an altered perception, where bodies move, speak and scream in silence. Oumar Diallo’s work plays with the fragile value of the moment, breaking down the wall that separates audiences from performers, and using movement, words and embodiment to bring it to life. Oumar Diallo’s dance, born in the streets and clubs, is resolutely of its time. Nexus – En quête d’une voie is his first group work, following his much-talked-about duo Kifesh 2.0 (2024). Someone gets their head bashed in for no reason. Christ’s cross is shot to pieces, and a duel using the rubble ensues. Starting from a prologue full of violence and clichés, Spaghetti Western questions the hypocrisy of the new imperialist Western policy. A satirical and epic-historical deconstruction of our (so-called) post-war history. In this performance, the Wild West is not located in the 19th century, nor in the US. On the contrary. We find ourselves in the Wild West here, everywhere, and now. Images of violence can no longer be banished from daily life. Propaganda justifying Western policy within the geopolitical order is also omnipresent – to such an extent, in fact, that we are beginning to consider it normal. Meanwhile, polarization and unease are growing among the citizenry. With Spaghetti Western, the actors and theatre-makers Aurelie Di Marino, Renée Goethijn, Femke Stallaert, Michiel Soete, Oscar Briou, Edoardo Ripani, Oxana Sankova, Atta Nasser, Nona Buhrs, Roel Faes, Paola Bartoletti, Yuni Mahieu, Giovanni Barcella, Kaat Arnaert, Tomas Pevenage, and Anthony Chang draw inspiration from the Italian film genre of the same name, the critical variant of the classic American Western, that flourished in the late 1960s.  • Aurelie Di Marino (b. 1986) is a theatre-maker and director. She studied Literary Studies at KU Leuven and obtained a Master in Directing at RITCS School of Arts in Brussels in 2013. In her work, she moves between theatre, performance, and research, developing a distinct artistic trajectory, both individually and within long-term collaborations and collectives. Her artistic practice is characterized by a strong interest in ideology, power, ethics, and collective mythology. She has performed as an actor and maker on stage and in exhibition contexts, and has been involved in productions at venues including Kaaitheater, Antigone, Beursschouwburg, theater arsenaal, detheatermaker, and Buda. From 2013 to 2022, she was one of the core members of Koekelberg Alliance of Crafters (K.A.K.), a collective that, via artistic occupations of public and abandoned spaces in Belgium and internationally, investigated self-organization, community, and artistic autonomy. Since 2022 she has been working on Malgré Tout, a multi-year chronicle of Western ‘civilization’ that premiered in Brussels in June 2025, a collaboration between Kaaitheater and Théâtre Varia. • Renée Goethijn (b. 1987, BE, she/her) studied in the makers' program at the RITCS School of Arts in Brussels. She explores the boundaries between theatre and visual art, creating visual, absurd performances in which the scenography often forms the core of the production. In doing so, she creates bizarre parallel realities that expose the principles and mechanisms that steer and determine our societal reality. Since her graduation, Renée’s artistic work has consisted of a continuous interplay between an individual trajectory, collective practices, and other collaborations. She founded Koekelberg Alliance of Crafters (K.A.K.) in 2014 with a number of other former RITCS students – a horizontal alliance of 16 theatre-makers, tinkerers, thinkers, and other charlatans in search of alternative forms of creation, presentation, and collectivity. With K.A.K. she has created Office de Tourisme/ Agence de Voyage (2016), Life, Death and Television (2018), Snøw (2019), The Unheard (2020). At Kunstenwerkplaats (KWP), she created 4 Women Getting Sick (2025), a co-production of Kaaitheater, Viernulvier, Antigone, C-takt/Beyond the black box, among other productions.Thu 12 Nov · 20:00KVS BOL · BrusselsUntil 13 Novfrom €8 LAS VEGASTheatreLAS VEGAS« Liberté, fluidité, causticité, toupet. In Arabic, ḥoub means ‘love in all its forms’. The root ح ب ب (‘ḥbb’) refers to the seed, the core, that which carries life within itself. The Houb of the title stands for a sisterly dialogue between the poetry of Zaïneb Ḥamdi and the turntablism practice of Soumaya Phéline Abouda. Drawing from her poetry collection Où mon amour sera houb*, Zaïneb Hamdi expresses urgent issues that engage both artists: the reappropriation of non-white bodies, their languages and history, withdrawal from the ‘systems of the Fathers’, and the rejection of any essentialization used as an instrument of power. Houb unfolds these poetic words in scenes, somewhere between confessions and incantations. Like an echo, the live orchestrated music behind the turntables becomes a full-fledged narrative that deconstructs and composes voices, textures, and samples and guides the breath of the poem. Zaïneb and Soumaya let a living language float between orality and sounds between them. They call for discursive plurality by inviting a voice from the world of poetry onto the stage at every performance, to allow a unique story – for the duration of a text – to resonate in the heart of the show. In a circular, science-fiction-like setting, Houb immerses the audience in an artistic, sensory cross-pollination in which poetry, music, and silence pave the way for listening and shared vibration.  • Zaïneb Hamdi is a Belgian poet, writer, and performer. Fils d’Arabe, her first poetry collection, was published in 2017. In 2024, she published Où mon amour sera ḥoub, which was awarded the 2025 Les Grenades – Prix de la marraine literary prize, which recognizes a feminist work of poetry. Her texts explore otherness, the place of women, their relationships with masculinity, the body, and language, blurring the boundaries between the intimate and the collective. In addition to the written word, she is also active in the digital space of social media, where she creates short-form visual and auditory poetry that combine image, text, and video. On stage, she is developing a form of performance poetry that combines spoken word, recitation, and solo performance. Her shows have been presented at various cultural institutions, including La Bellone, Maison Poème, the Beursschouwburg, and the Palais de Tokyo. • Soumaya Phéline Abouda, originally from Brussels, is a sound artist, DJ, composer, and performer, active on Belgian and international stages since 2006. As a resident at Kiosk Radio, co-founder of the High Needs Low club nights, and co-organizer of Club Détour, she has positioned herself at the intersection of sound design and alternative electronic cultures. Her work explores the evolution of the DJ profession and the way in which the tools (CDJ, turntables, and mixer) can become true narrative and expressive instruments. She calls this approach CDJism, an extension of the turntablism from which she develops her gestures, physicality, and imagination. Through this exploration, she transforms the DJ performance into a space of active listening, improvisation, and composition in real time, in which every movement becomes an act of writing. Her sonic universe is characterized by a technical and organic exploration of sounds, combining deep basses, complex breakbeats, and polyrhythmic structures to create unique and ephemeral experiences. As a member of the ‘Psst Mlle’ feminist collective, she advocates for more diversity and inclusivity in electronic music.Thu 12 Nov · 20:30Atelier 210 · BrusselsUntil 14 Novfrom €17 Feydeau, room 21TheatreFeydeau, room 21We are in 1920. In room 21 of a psychiatric hospital in Paris, Georges Feydeau, one of the greatest authors of vaudevilles, is interned. No, this is not a farce, the greatest of vaudevillians ended his life insane! It didn't take more for two Olybrius, taking up the codes of the genre, to seize this tragi-comic situation to create a real… vaudeville based on historical reality. Locked in room 21, Feydeau cannot help but transform doctors and nurses into grand-guignolesque characters of a play of which he is this time the hero. And here are the spectators press-ganged into an implacable mechanism, where misunderstandings and slamming doors follow one another at a frantic pace. The famous room becomes the nerve center of all disorders, and, by the magic of the theater, transforms into a hotel where everyone tries to hide their intentions: lovers, spouses, servants, and guests cross paths and get tangled up until total confusion. A burlesque and virtuoso comedy, with lively dialogues, where everything is told “in the manner of Feydeau.” A comedy that unfolds all the art of laughter, precision, and perfectly orchestrated chaos. To die is very easy. To live, between these two events, is not necessarily impossible. It is only a question of following the rules and applying the principles to accommodate oneself to it, it is enough to know that in all circumstances, there exists a solution, a way to react and to behave, an explanation for problems, for life is only a long series of tiny problems, which, each one, calls for and must know an answer. For that, it is enough to come and listen to some wise advice. For it is a question of knowing and learning, from the already so mundane moment of one's birth, to hold one's rank and respect the codes that govern existence. It is finally a question of controlling one's sorrows, of crying in necessary and relative quantity, of judging the importance of one's grief and always, in the most difficult moments of life, of evaluating the fair share that one grants them.
