CinemaFlesh and FewlÉtienne is a truck driver and a serious guy, not very talkative, totally dedicated to his job. He is gay, but only permits himself occasional one-night stands in car parks or woodland. When Étienne meets Bartosz, a Polish trucker, new emotions make an appearance. Crushed by the relentless time pressure of their work, the two lovers will need a thousand tricks to meet again. Alexis Manenti's dazzling charisma fuels a film that is all the stronger because it operates on two levels, both romantic and social. This harsh and precarious world makes the perfect setting for an absolutely believable love story.Mon 2 Nov · 18:45Cinéma Palace · BrusselsUntil 7 Nov+1 more date

MiscDiscussion: towards accessible queer cinemaIn a socio-economic and political context where Brussels' queer culture struggles to gain traction, and where it is often sustained by precarious and/or volunteer work, it constantly faces the following challenge: how to go on with limited resources?
This often necessitates shortcuts and compromises—and often, this highlights the factors of marginalisation. Among those most affected by these choices are people with disabilities and larger people.
Stairs with no lifts, seats that are too small, cramped spaces, oppressive lighting and noise, lack of subtitles, spoken presentations without sign language interpretation or microphones, illegible information, a lack of disability-related stories in programmes…
Yet, it is sometimes possible to create better access to our community events with limited resources. And sometimes, there's no secret: no investment = exclusion of one or more groups.
Let's talk about it! What are the current possibilities for improving access to queer culture for people with disabilities and larger people? What needs to change?
And on a smaller scale, as we approach our 25th anniversary, it's high time for Pink Screens to ask itself: "How can we make Pink Screens more accessible?" by continuing to build on what we've started within the festival, but also on what has been established within the broader LGBTQIA+ community.

CinemaNo Rest For The Wicked - Brief SomebodiesIt's 1862 on the Faroe Islands, and Baldur lives in a remote fishing community. His life is turned upside down when a rugged whaler arrives, awakening an unquenched desire in him. When tragedy strikes the desolate shores, their forbidden passion unleashes unsettling forces. For they refuse to let their love be buried; they will fight to the death - and even beyond.
No Rest for the Wicked is deliciously gothic, brilliantly blending gay romance, period drama, and vampire story to create a genre film that reinvents the rules.

CinemaPink Memories: from Stonewall (1969) to the emergence of AIDS (1982): queer cinema between self-affirmation, activism and sexual liberationHidden, ashamed, and ostracized for decades!
In the 1970s, films began to openly address the lives and demands of gay men, lesbians, and transgender people.
One of the catalysts for these changes was the Stonewall Riots, during which gay men, lesbians, transgender people, sex workers, and homeless youth who frequented the bar took to the streets to respond to daily harassment by the police.
Other factors, such as the sexual revolution and the rise of feminist movements, contributed to the emergence of films in which gay and lesbian characters are (almost) like any other fictional characters, and activist films advocating for equal rights.
On the occasion of its 25th edition, the Pink Screens festival invites you to explore this brief period when screens flourished with films free of taboos and increasingly provocative—films featuring liberated queer people, far removed from the victimization that had been their lot in previous decades.
This diverse—though by no means exhaustive—retrospective is scheduled primarily at Cinematek throughout November.
A lecture by Didier Roth-Bettoni, author of the book “QUEER CINEMA 1895–2025,” will be held on Tuesday, November 3, at 7:00 p.m. at LaVallée (39 Rue Adolphe Lavallée - Molenbeek). CinemaBEL AMIBEL AMI — Geng Jun
CN — 2024 — 117’ — FIC — VO ZH — ST EN/FR
In a small Chinese town with straight lines and a cold climate, bodies begin to stir. The slightly eccentric characters make their way through this normative, stifling place, often entering into improbable and astonishing relationships. The film is both lyrical and idiosyncratic in its portrayal of freedom and desire in an extremely normative society. The storylines become intertwined, and the queer narratives burst at the seams even as they're held back. Banned in China, this film is a ballet in black and white, a poetic middle finger to an oppressive regime.

MiscConference by Didier Roth-Bettoni: Between underground and activism: a post-Stonewall queer cinemaPolitical, sexual, and experimental, the cinema that is born in the wake of the Stonewall revolt reinvents, in the margins of the industry, the images of gays, lesbians, and trans people. It is a cinema of queer empowerment, of the taking control of their representations and their stories by all those whom mainstream cinema had until then so often reduced to stereotypes, not to say caricatures.…
Didier Roth-Bettoni is a writer and film historian. He has had multiple lives: festival manager, bookseller, journalist for several film and LGBTQI magazines, author of numerous books on queer cinema. Passionate about the work and the figure of the British filmmaker and artist Derek Jarman, he dedicated a work to him Sebastiane, ou saint Jarman, cinéaste queer et martyr (ErosOnyx,2014)
His great work remains L'homosexualité au cinéma published in 2007 by La Musardine. This book is being reissued these days in an expanded edition of 400 pages under the title: Queer Cinema 1895-2025, une histoire mondiale des représentations LGBTQI à l'écran.Tue 3 Nov · 19:30LaVallée · Brussels
MusicARLO PARKSArlo Parks goes back on tour with the ‘Desire Tour'! The London singer, producer, and poet will stop over in Belgium, on Tuesday, November 3 at Cirque Royal de Bruxelles. While her new album ‘Ambiguous Desire' will be released on April 3, this concert is an unmissable appointment to experience live the most vulnerable, confident, and euphoric songs that Arlo Parks has written to date.
Thanks to her distinctive mix of raw lyrics and striking vocal melodies, Arlo Parks was propelled to the rank of « voice of her generation » upon the release of her first album ‘Collapsed in Sunbeams' in 2021. The same year, she won a Mercury Music Prize, established herself as « Breakthrough Artist » at the Brit Awards, and secured nominations at the Grammy Awards and Ivor Novello Awards. In 2022, she performed opening acts for Billie Eilish and Harry Styles and was invited to play on the stages of the prestigious Coachella and Glastonbury. Her second album, ‘My Soft Machine', on which appears a collaboration with Phoebe Bridgers, led her to continue performing around the world, including a acclaimed concert at Ancienne Belgique in 2023. At the beginning of April, Arlo Parks will unveil her highly anticipated third album, ‘Ambiguous Desire'. Drawing from a mosaic of influences, from the queer hedonism of Paradise Garage de New York to the nocturnal and melancholic rhythms of the British The Streets and Burial, passing through the electronic and sparkling catharsis of LCD Soundsystem and the house grooves of Theo Parrish, ‘Ambiguous Desire' shows Arlo Parks at her peak in terms of confidence and experimentation. Soundtrack of an unbridled self-expression, this album is a work full of joie de vivre, signed by one of the freest voices of the music scene. Absolutely to be discovered live on November 3 at Cirque Royal!

CinemaOUT LAWS + RED ELEPHANTOUT LAWS — Lexi Powner, James Lewis
NA/UK — 2025 — 79’ — DOC — VO EN — ST FR
Out Laws is a documentary investigation that follows several activists as they challenge laws criminalising LGBTQIA+ people in their respective countries. All of these countries are former British colonies. We delve into the archives and discover that the laws enacted by the former colonial power are the roots of queerphobia in these societies. This prompts us to question certain assumptions and stand up to governments. The film exposes, on the one hand, the political forces attempting to force queer people back into the closet and, on the other hand, the movement that resists with courage, pride, and solidarity.

Their stories reach out to each other, connected by pain, desire and memory. TheatreFar Away the LightBoykid doesn’t have a body like the others.
So much the better: he will make a manifesto out of it.
Between archives, filmed journal, and landscapes, he deploys his memories like laying out evidence. How we love each other, how we struggle, how we invent ourselves when nothing resembles us? With a mixture of rage and tenderness, he casts a gaze on the impact of his trans and disabled identity in his family ties and his construction. The public is progressively challenged. The intimate becomes a playground, vulnerability a strength.

CinemaSebastianeSebastiane is a young soldier in a Roman army filled with men who are often naked and engage in homosexual acts. The centurion, Severus, tries to seduce Sebastiane, who rejects him. A reinterpretation of the life of Saint Sebastian, the film is a peplum with unapologetically homoerotic themes, whose visual beauty and power are striking. Transcending the issue of gender and linking rebellion with homosexuality, Derek Jarman already addresses sexuality here in its most political dimension.

It’s a premise that might put us off—were it not for the fact that the film is directed by Louise Weard, a trans woman filmmaker from the same artistic collective as Jane Schoenbrun. TheatreNEXUS - En quête d'une voieThe others
Nexus – En quête d’une voie is a sensory and physical, almost spiritual experience, a performance about the fragility of the human mind.
Four performers take to the stage, bringing new imaginary worlds to life through a distorted perception of reality. They balance on a knife-edge; everything unfolds in a breath, within inner worlds shaped by an altered perception, where bodies move, speak and scream in silence.
Oumar Diallo’s work plays with the fragile value of the moment, breaking down the wall that separates audiences from performers, and using movement, words and embodiment to bring it to life.
Oumar Diallo’s dance, born in the streets and clubs, is resolutely of its time. Nexus – En quête d’une voie is his first group work, following his much-talked-about duo Kifesh 2.0 (2024).
Oumar Diallo received the Roel Verniers Prize, awarded by the Theaterfestival / KVS to encourage emerging artists, for his project NEXUS – En quête d’une voie.Wed 11 Nov · 20:00Les Brigittines · BrusselsUntil 14 Nov
CinemaBrussels Art Film Festival X Pilar: Barbara Forver Door Brydie O' ConnorBARBARA FOREVER is a multifaceted and immersive exploration of the life, work and lasting cultural impact of filmmaker Barbara Hammer, a pioneering artist who lived life to the fullest, created with a sense of urgency and transformed cinema through her singular vision. Her films were an extension of herself: sensual, experimental and unapologetically lesbian, rooted in a profound desire for connection and an unwavering determination to tell her own story.
Drawing on her body of work, which spans more than eighty films, an extensive collection of previously unreleased archival material and in-depth audio interviews, Brydie O’Connor’s portrait brings Hammer’s voice and imagery to the fore. In doing so, the film becomes both a tribute to her legacy and a continuation of it.
"If we're experimenting with our lives and the way we're going to live, our film and our art should also be experimental. It breaks tradition, and makes you think in a broader way. It's the way I experience the world." – Barbara HammerThu 12 Nov · 19:00Pilar · Brussels

TheatreRimbaud - the musical showA first, exactly 135 years to the day after his death — November 10, 2026
November 10, 1891. Arthur Rimbaud dies in Marseille.
November 10, 2026. 135 years later, to the day, he returns to the stage.
Incandescent poet, rebel adolescent, insatiable traveler, lover of Verlaine, merchant in Africa... Arthur Rimbaud would have needed only a few years of writing to forever revolutionize poetry.
Rimbaud – The musical show takes us in his footsteps through his own words, his poems, his travels, his loves, his angers, and his silences.
In the intimacy of the Station des Rêveurs, a single actor brings forth the multiple faces that crossed his existence: Rimbaud as a child, young man, and adult, but also his mother, Isabelle, Verlaine, and a whole gallery of real or fantasized characters.
Theater, poetry, and original songs mingle to tell the story of the one who wanted to be a seer, burned his youth in writing before abandoning everything, and spent the rest of his existence trying to escape the one he had been.
A show that is reborn
Rimbaud is also a story that has already lived on stage.
Created in a first form several years earlier and performed for nearly 10 years, the show returns today after a long absence. This new version does not simply seek to retake yesterday's show: it recreates it.
New dramaturgy, new musical compositions, a new look at the man behind the poet... while retaining what constituted its primary identity: letting Rimbaud be heard by Rimbaud, letting his words cross the theater and confronting the adult man with the adolescent whose work will never cease to pursue him.
This re-creation also bears the gaze of one who finds Rimbaud years after having already embodied him. Time has passed for the performer as for the show, allowing us today to approach differently flight, failure, love, money, illness, death, and above all the incredible posterity of a work written almost entirely before the age of twenty. A musical and theatrical journey as close as possible to a man who wanted to reinvent life.
To celebrate this re-creation, the Station des Rêveurs will extend Rimbaud's universe right into its bar, with drinks and light snacks imagined around the show, his era, and his travels. Come earlier, grab a bite, have a drink, and enter Rimbaud's universe even before the show begins.
