De Ahmed Madani La press: Ahmed Madani has a gift for gathering speech and transforming intimate narratives, made of tragedy and comedy, into unforgettable theatrical works. Le Monde “The tiny people pay a heavy price for the smooth running of the country; they resist as best they can the crises that follow one another. It is a people that stands up to say no and that realizes that if it does not act, if it does not speak up, a whole world will disappear…” Avec Nous the Tiny ones, director Ahmed Madani focuses on following the motivations of a youth in motion, who acts on their own scale for causes that deeply animate them. After spending a year meeting young French speakers (and notably at the Poche), Ahmed proposes to about a dozen of them to testify to their commitment on stage. The whole tells these famous drops of water that make the rivers… and forms a show in which everything is true, concrete, and full of hope. “What do we have to share with these lives in the making? What stories shaped them? How do they manage to still stand tall? A life is only tiny when it is considered powerless and without a narrative. Our project is to reveal these narratives.” The testimonies collected from young people (social workers, apprentices, farmers, police officers, delivery drivers…) by Madani (Incandescences,) and interpreted by themselves reveal a lucid, committed, and active youth.
