Paradise

They heal, gather, take care of the living, and refuse violence. Where war has ravaged everything, they invent other ways of living together. One day, the sea rejects a man on this shore. Philoctetes is a tough guy of Greek tragedy: he is a war machine and his arrows are weapons of mass destruction... He would even have overshadowed General Ulysses himself. But there, he got an arrow in his foot, his wound stinks of carrion, and his companions abandoned him. There is everything at once in this text with a powerful epic breath (by the immense Kae Tempest): the misery of exiles, the pollution that gangrenes our planet, the massacres in progress in the four corners of the world… but also luminous exits, those of mutual aid, empathy, sweetness, humor, the relationship to the living, … In short, in the middle of hell: paradise. Paradis is a contemporary rewriting of Philoctète de Sophocle. For its 75th anniversary, the Poche therefore offers itself its first Greek tragedy!
