Waarom is the municipality of Meise bringing this film to our village centers?\n\nThe screening of Eat More Trees is an initiative of Lokaal Bestuur Meise with the express support of the Environmental Council. Our municipality increasingly struggles with longer periods of drought and sudden heatwaves. With our climate policy and the Rainwater and Drought Plan, we are fully committed to more greenery, extra trees, and less paving. This film shows in a hopeful way how trees act as a natural sponge and air conditioner for our living environment.\n\nWhat does agroforestry have to do with my own garden in Meise?\n\nAlthough the film starts with large-scale agricultural projects, the message is directly applicable in our own village. Did you know that no less than 41% of all paving in Meise is on private property (in gardens, driveways, and terraces)? By unpaving tiles yourself, planting a (fruit) tree, or collecting rainwater, every resident helps to cool the neighborhood and protect the soil.\n\nHow does the municipality help me to take action myself?\n\nGarden Rangers: Book free home advice from an experienced garden expert.\n\nGreen Your Garden: Order climate trees, fruit trees, and mixed hedges at a discounted rate via the group purchase.\n\nFacade Gardens & Tile Pushing: Request a facade garden; the municipal green service breaks up the tiles on the pavement for free and takes care of the planting.\n\nSubsidies: Take advantage of the municipal subsidy for the installation of a rainwater tank or infiltration facility.
