Wandeling: Gent in de ban van het Empire Beginning of the nineteenth century, we were part of the Franse Rijk. We merged into the atmosphere of the Empire. De Franse adorned our city, we adopted the French lifestyle, and tried to maintain ourselves in that big world. Ghent under Napoleon, a plague or a blessing, it just depends on which side you look at it from.
