Great Meat House: guided tours

Curious about what is hidden behind the construction fences? Het Groot Vleeshuis was built between 1406 and 1419 as a meat hall. The building is now being thoroughly restored. In addition to the impressive 15th-century oak roof structure, which was severely damaged over the centuries, we are also restoring the roofing, the dormer windows, the facades, and the woodwork with respect for the historical character of the building. You will also see how the Groot Vleeshuis is being prepared for a new future and what function it will take on after the restoration. The restoration architects, the carpenters from the firm Denys, and the advisor from Stad Gent Monumentenzorg will provide explanations about the restoration. Accessibility: The tour is not accessible to wheelchair users or people with reduced mobility.
