Discover a hidden piece of Koude Oorlog in the dune forests of De Haan. In the dune forests of De Haan lies a 5-hectare site full of military history. At the time, the site near Vlissegem was an important link in the German Luftwaffe radar network, with the long-range Wassermann radar as an eye-catcher. The site remained of strategic importance even after the war. Between 1948 and 1953, a new military structure was built as a communication center for the Belgische Zeemacht. The equipment has since disappeared, but under the guidance of a guide, you can explore the rooms of this Belgian 'bunker'. De Duitse bunkers will not be accessible on Bunkerdag, but the fascinating story behind the radar installations will be explained on-site by a guide.
