The Lemonheads

The Lemonheads go way back. The band was founded in Boston in 1986 and flourished for a long time on the cutting edge of chaos and charm, with a changing line-up around frontman Evan Dando. Their commercial breakthrough came in 1992 with the record ‘It's A Shame About Ray’ and successor ‘Come On Feel the Lemonheads’ from 1993. Both records combine punk energy with melodic pop and established Dando and his cohorts as one of the most intriguing figures within alternative rock. Through the years The Lemonheads have regularly changed shape — members of Descendents, Dinosaur Jr, Blake Babies, and Fuzzy passed in review — and the band occasionally took a break. But the core remained with every comeback Dando’s songwriting: ironic, vulnerable, infectious, and sincere. Their influence in the music industry is undeniable. Artists like Courtney Barnett, Waxahatchee, Phoebe Bridgers, and MJ Lenderman name The Lemonheads as a source of inspiration, cover their songs, and praise their emotional honesty and melodic simplicity. Or, in the words of Rolling Stone: “Few bands have succeeded in so elegantly finding the balance between the anxiety of grunge and the warmth of folk as The Lemonheads.” At the end of 2025, The Lemonheads returned with ‘Love Chant’, their first album in almost two decades - a bold, melodic reaffirmation of Evan Dando’s unique songwriting. Following the record, there will be a European tour in the autumn, with a passage in Cactus Club.
