Lola is a cabaret singer in Nantes waiting for the return of Michel, her lover and the father of her child. Michel has left for America and was supposed to return when he was rich. In the meantime, Lola is wooed by various men, and it starts to look like she no longer has confidence in a happy togetherness with Michel.
