Strings in the House

With ‘Strings in the House’, Ataneres explores the intersections between classical orchestration and contemporary club culture. House, techno, soundtrack, and jazz are the building blocks of a through-composed musical architecture in which a classical string orchestra moves with the drive and timing of a DJ set. At the heart of this sound universe is vocalist Ibernice MacBean, who, as frontwoman, embodies the tension between electronics and acoustics. She is flanked by DJ ¡Modular¡ (Jimmy Quintens) and keyboardist Frederik Martens, together responsible for a dynamic interplay in which rhythm, harmony, and texture are constantly shifting. The music unfolds as a controlled build-up of tension and release. Orchestral motifs are hypnotic and layered, while electronic grooves gain a surprising richness of timbre and emotional depth. Boundaries blur, roles tilt, and every musician is challenged to think beyond the familiar — always in service of the whole.
