Beethoven is dead for 200 years, long live Beethoven! Although he was already dead before he was born but that is … well his life, a battle against death.
Peeters, De Schrijver, Miller, and Van den Brande breathe life back into the classical composer. Although he didn't like that. Classical. He was rather modern. Then. Revolutionary. But what was modern yesterday is from yesterday today.
Fortunately, he will still be there tomorrow, because Beethoven remains beautiful. Even though he has been dead for so long.
A man who stubbornly tries to be his authentic self, desperately looking for beauty and meaning. A tormented mind, a big heart, a sick body.
‘I am satisfied with almost nothing, I find it all bad. That is why I am, I think, so good.’
