Bert of Roy / Sketch 5 - Man buys art

Na Sketch 1 and Sketch 2, there is the long-awaited Sketch 5, or ‘Man buys art’. Bert of Roy played together for the first time on the defunct Studio Herman Teirlinck. The year is 1998. About 25 years later, they are still doing it and in this way are increasingly putting themselves in the list of iconic duos such as Gaston and Leo, Laurel and Hardy, Messi and Ronaldo … Bert of Roy. In their entirely own absurdist universe, which holds the middle between comedy and theater, the two continue to search for the ultimate Sketch. In Sketch 5 or ‘Man buys art’, Bert of Roy seem to be getting very close to that and increasingly to the core. Expect a hilarious verbal fencing match in which it becomes increasingly unclear who exactly is trying to scam whom. If Bert's criminal brother, just out of the slammer, also turns out to be on his way, the fence seems to be completely off. Once again, Bert of Roy are expertly assisted by their coach Herwig Ilegems - you know who! -, who rejected many a transfer proposal and re-signed for an indefinite period. Or as Herwig puts it… “There is so little to laugh about in this world that it is the artist's duty to take humor very seriously.” Bert Haelvoet played in theater performances of de Roovers and tg stan. He enjoys TV and film fame as an actor in, among others, ‘Wat als?’, ‘De Helaasheid Der Dingen’, ‘Spitsbroers’, ‘13 Geboden’, ‘De Dag’, and ‘De Verraders’. Roy Aernouts is an actor, singer, screenwriter, and cabaret artist. He won the Leids Cabaret Festival, played with various companies. Last season he could still be seen in numerous theaters as Egmont alongside Jan Decleir with ‘Het Banket!’. As a screenwriter, he wrote the CANVAS series ‘Clinch’ in which he acted alongside Wim Helsen in a direction by Herwig Ilegems. One of the surprises this season… a must-see!
