Georg Philipp Telemann (1681-1767) Quartet III in E minor, TWV43:G4 Quartet VI in E minor, TWV 43:e4 (New quartets in six suites, Paris ca. 1738) Among the most prolific composers of the 18th century, Georg Philipp Telemann left an immense work covering all the genres of his time. Published in Paris in 1738, the New quartets in six suites, today known with those of 1730 under the name Parisian Quartets, bring together flute, violin, viola da gamba or cello, and basso continuo. In the spirit of the "goûts réunis," these quartets are distinguished by their freedom of invention, their virtuosity, and their art of dialogue between four instruments treated as true soloists.
