21 September has been declared by the Verenigde Naties as
the Internationale Dag of Peace, a day dedicated to ceasefire, non-violence and global peace.
Met de Leuvense Vredesbeweging we want to bring these themes to attention permanently during the Peace Week.
We live in difficult times, in which we want to give more strength and visibility to the culture of peace and mutual solidarity with the following activities:
-Saturday 19/9 at 3 p.m. in the Sint-Michiel Vredeskerk, Naamsestraat 57, Leuven - organ music, peace pulpit by Elvis Peeters “You would become a pacifist for less”, followed by a reception. In collaboration with the Sint-Michiel Vredeskerk.
-Monday 21/9 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. on the Grote Markt in Leuven -
speech by mayor Ridouani, songs by Kontrarie, poetry with
Hilde Desmet and Palestinian poet Abu Tareq, singing together.
Distributing cranes and peace wishes.
Our call for ‘sustainable peace’ will be strengthened with the speech by mayor Ridouani, member of the Mayors for Peace network.
To bystanders and passers-by we give a paper crane and a flyer with a message of peace.
