POR (6+) - dOFt

Schouwburg Kortrijk, Kortrijk
€10–15
In the playful and poetic dance theater performance ‘POR’, past and future meet in the now. Two living rooms spin on their axis. In one room, a boy tries to find his place among the moving boxes. The other room is the home of an older woman who surrounds herself with precious memories. Both look in a different direction: the boy dreams ahead, the woman looks back. But neither of them really takes a step. Gradually they discover that there is more than their own living world. Routine gives way to curiosity and without realizing it, these two opposites poke each other out of their familiar walls. ‘POR’ shows a unique clash and fusion of generations, in which memories and dreams eventually give way to the power of the here and now. dOFt creates surprising, playful, and impactful dance theater for a young audience based on artistic research. Central to their work is the dialogue between movement, text, music, and scenography, which yields a particularly original storytelling power. dOFt was previously a guest with the warmly received ‘Dummies’ and ‘Foon’. The press on 'POR': ”The play with the revolving stage has something of ‘peek-a-boo’, of ‘find the ten differences’. That imagination in sourdine says a lot about the seriousness with which dOFt has gone to work, without big outbursts or cheap show for ‘the little ones’ (from 6+). The motor behind ’POR’ is subtle surrealism rather than spectacular animation.” (Wouter Hillaert, pzazz) “Theatermaker Jonas Vermeulen and choreographer and circus theater maker Piet Van Dycke once again bring dance, acrobatics, and text together, in a humorous and playful performance. [...] They are nice reflections that are evoked by the pleasant play between poking and acting, between man, woman, time, between going forward and backward in time.” (Tuur Devens, Theaterkrant) “A gentle, moving dance and circus theater performance about the difference in clock and (lived) time. Yet this dance with the timepiece turns out differently than you expect, because the inventive decor is used in a mobile and meaningful way.” (Annette Embrechts, Volkskrant ★★★★) Schouwburg Kortrijk is a proud UiTPAS partner.
