“Van Italië to Greece” Livia Giaffreda is a singer and percussionist with a focus on Italian and Mediterranean traditions. She works with voice and frame drum and brings both traditional songs and her own interpretations. Her repertoire starts from oral traditions and receives a contemporary interpretation, supported by accordionist Simone Frezza. Katerina Douka & Stamatis Pasopoulos bring a program with Greek repertoire for voice and accordion. Central is the rebetiko, the urban folk music that originated in the ports of the Greek peninsula. In this music, themes such as migration, loss, and longing resonate. The duo approaches this repertoire with respect for tradition and with attention to text, melody, and ensemble playing. Thus, they place a historical musical form in a current context.
