Gids Danny takes you on a sturdy landscape walk of 8 km starting at the church of Grootlo at 2:00 p.m. De Bolloheide - the first officially recognized nature reserve of Tremelo-Baal - is a vulnerable heath relic. A remaining piece of heath that once formed part of an extensive heath area. You can see it as a kind of living museum of what our region used to look like. If Indien Natuurpunt Tremelo did not carry out systematic management work here, such as removing non-native tree species and sod-cutting heath, this piece of heath history would disappear and with it the now rare animal and plant species that find their home there and are bound to the heath biotope. Nitrogen deposition is also unfortunately a major threat to these nutrient-poor heathlands...
