Art in the metro\n\nWhen a metro project was launched in Brussels in the 1960s, the designers envisioned an open, lively and original underground network.\n\nEach station was to be different, in shape or finish, but with a certain unity in furnishing. Passengers would discover stations with different atmospheres and identities, while finding common elements to find their way. Art was an integral part of this major project.\n\nToday, more than 90 permanent works of art adorn the platforms, ticket counters and corridors, giving the 69 metro stations their soul. All genres are represented: painting, sculpture, photography, stained glass, and all materials: from canvas to bronze and from wood to glass and steel.\n\nAnd we are fortunate to learn more about these works of art on March 14 under the guidance of an expert guide.
