Autoriteit Deforce brings a cello recital with sleeves rolled up
Arne Deforce knows the world of Xenakis like no other: raw, radical, and physical to the fiber. In this solo recital, he dives straight into the core of two masterpieces from twentieth-century cello literature. In ‘Kottos’, Xenakis sends the cello through mythological convulsions: snarling glissandi, explosive gestures, and an intensity that sometimes reminds one more of percussion than a string instrument. The monumental ‘Nomos alpha’ goes even further. The cello is dissected into a system of pure energy, built from mathematical structures that unfold like a delirium of fiery bowing and brutal precision. Deforce, who studied this repertoire for years, places you in the middle of Xenakis’ micro-universe: a place where his instrument collides, groans, and glows.
