The Original Karina Beumer

Beyond society's fantasy of the "artist" in the 21st century, Karina Beumer comes to question this position in today's Belgium. Overwhelmed by the various aspects and skills (social, organizational, daily life, practical, etc.) demanded of a visual artist just out of studies, Karina Beumer decides to resign from herself and post a small ad where, in exchange for remuneration, applicants are asked to become Karina Beumer. With the help of clever cinematographic and plastic processes, she invites us into the meanders of her life as an artist and amuses herself by losing us (and losing herself). But beyond the playful mise en abyme, there also reveal themselves the infernal quicksands in which a dignified life and human relationships bog down within the framework of a system at the end of its tether.
