Many waders commute between African wintering grounds and northern breeding grounds and come to 'refuel' before continuing their journey. Since the expansion of the Zwin in 2019, mudflats and salt marshes have had an even greater attraction for these birds. But what exactly are waders? And what is that 'refueling'? We are going to look for up to ten species that are currently staying in the Zwin. There are remarkable birds among them, such as the common greenshank. You definitely have to see that one!
