Lucky Manuelo

Lucky Manuelo is a warm, moving, funny, but above all deeply human musical by Frank Van Laecke and Jelle Cleymans, based on the award-winning film Iedereen Beroemd by director Dominique Deruddere, which was nominated in 2001 for the Oscar for Beste Niet-Engelstalige Film. In 2019, the story was adapted into a musical for the first time and played in Antwerp. Musical producer ISKARIOT is now bringing a new, intimate remake of this musical to the theater. The performance contains the iconic song Lucky Manuelo van Raymond by de Groenewoud, which helped form the basis of the cult status of Iedereen Beroemd. The story Jean Vereecken wants to make his daughter Marva's big dream come true at all costs: to become famous as a singer. Only... Marva is – to put it mildly – not exactly a natural talent. Maar Jean does not give up. On the contrary: he goes to the extreme. And even much further... With this musical, ISKARIOT focuses on a recognizable Flemish story, with a nice mix of humor and tragedy.
