At a time when the circulation of scores was free and copyright was almost non-existent, some works were falsely attributed. They often enriched the catalog of famous masters. This is the case of the Salve Regina in G minor attributed to Pergolesi, kept at the British Library among other 18th-century antiphons, and the Pianto di Maria de Giovanni Battista Ferrandini, long attributed to Handel. Composed in 1739 for the Munich court, this cantata places the Vierge Marie at the center of the Passion, offering rare theatricality and emotion. The number of its copies, preserved to this day, shows that it enjoyed a lasting and well-deserved success. Before giving way to this lamentation of the Vierge Marie, the concert will honor instrumental music pages by Corelli and Handel.
At 8:00 PM, Collégiale Saint-Monon at Nassogne
