A musical about dementia.
On Christmas Eve, a family gets together: grandfather, father, mother, grandson, and his girlfriend. They sit around the table and try to recall precious memories. That is not an easy task, because Grandpa Achiel suffers from Alzheimer's disease. As an amateur photographer, Achiel has captured all their beautiful moments on film, which means their memories have been preserved forever. But what happens when those memories start to fade? When the darkroom remains empty? This creates a great inner struggle for Achiel and his loved ones.
It is also a challenge for the people around him, dealing with a grandfather who forgets more and more things. Someone who overlooks fundamental aspects of the family relationship. It is a mixture of past and present, where – just like in the world of Alzheimer's – nothing and no one is what it seems. Because… it is a delicate matter.
This new Flemish production by creative producer Plotfish Entertainment in collaboration with Alzheimer Liga Vlaanderen tells a heartwarming story about dementia – a disease that 3 out of 4 Flemish people come into contact with.
