That very period has a massive image problem. With the help of aggressive marketing and a handful of films starring Julia Roberts, we have come to associate 'romance' with scented candles around the bathtub, rose petals on the bedspread, and a bottle of massage oil for 11.49 euros (ordered before 11:59 PM, delivered tomorrow!).   Time to restore true romance to its former glory and test its relevance for our time.
