Le noir de l’étoile - Ictus

Star ensemble brings dizzying cosmic beats “When music succeeds in evoking time, it gains an almost shamanistic power.” With ‘Le noir de l’étoile’, Gérard Grisey makes that thought audible. The starting point are pulsars: compact remains of exploded stars, a kind of cosmic clocks that tumble through space with inexorable precision. Their radio signals determine the rhythm and tempo of the music. Six percussionists, positioned around the audience, build a monumental sound space, executed with great skill by Ictus. Talk about a star parade!
