Their spontaneous jams grew into ‘Plain Songs’, an intimate long-player in which folk and country influences merge with jazzy improvisations. Warmly received by press and radio, and even in the Knack top 10 of jazz releases, the album forms the springboard for a new adventure: a dynamic quintet. With double bassist Yannick Peeters and drummer Lionel Beuvens as a versatile rhythm tandem, and saxophonist Werend van den Bossche adding fresh energy from his research into the intersections between jazz and Appalachian folk, a unique, open sound is created.
