Guided tour with open registration: discover the Sacred Heart district

The history of the neighborhood goes far back in time. Around two important manor farms, small residential cores developed. The fields were occupied by pleasure gardens of the wealthier Hasselt residents. Shooting guilds held their competitions here and in the vicinity of the canal once lay the first tennis court of Hasselt. With the arrival of the station and the industry at the canal basin, the population grew strongly. Progressive architects built houses here in the Nieuwe Stijl. We walk through the first built garden neighborhood of Hasselt, stop at the house where the marquis of Monaco lived and discover why a large field at the church served as a fairground for a long time. During the 3 km long walk you learn a lot about the neighborhood, from the Middle Ages to now. The walk is wheelchair friendly.
