Spider walk (1000-species day in Ghent)

Description: Guess what it is: it has 8 eyes, 8 legs, venomous fangs, and spinnerets? Indeed, a spider! But did you know that there is an enormous variation in those eyes, legs, fangs, and webs? Alleen Belgi counts more than 700 spider species. There are creepers with jumping legs, there are those with sprinter legs, and there are those with open arms. There are those that make funnel webs and others that make wheel or canopy webs, a simple tripwire, or a three-dimensional construction that you, as a fly, would rather not end up in. In short, spiders are fascinating hunters, each with its specific hunting method. We will surely find examples of this spider diversity on and near the Bijloke.
