Kenga Kuma: Architecture in dialogue

For architecture lovers. This exhibition highlights the leading Japanese architect Kengo Kuma (°1954), known for, among other things, the Paris metro station St-Denis Pleyel and the Victoria & Albert Museum in Dundee, Scotland. In his work, he explores the interplay of light(ness), softness, nature, and geometry, and the question of how to live in a world where we are increasingly alienated from the places where we belong. The result is buildings that blend into their surroundings and attempt to restore the bond between people and the world around them. Naturally, the Fondation Folon and the surrounding Solvay estate (with the castle of Terhulpen) is the perfect place for this exhibition. This ‘park of 1000 rhododendrons’ (227 hectares of greenery!) is included in the Uitzonderlijk Erfgoed van Walloni and is perfect for a quiet walk in a magnificent setting. Meet on Tuesday, June 16 at 9:30 AM at the ticket counters of Brussels-Schuman train station. We will take the train and then a TEC bus. The guided tour starts at 11:15 AM. Afterwards, we will have lunch at Taverne de L’Homme Bleu (optional), but bringing a picnic is certainly also an option.
