he Small Ships is the musical alter ego of the Scottish singer-songwriter Kenneth Brownlie. From his home base in Mechelen, Brownlie writes songs that find themselves somewhere between folk, roots, indie and jazz.\n\nTogether with pianist, producer and jack-of-all-trades Olaf Janssens, The Small Ships brings honest melodies, strong stories, dry humor and room for tranquility. Their songs move between exuberant sing-alongs and intimate tales, always driven by a love for character and stories.\n\nVolgens Brownlie and Janssens is their music half made for a party and half for a funeral..\n\n"With his acoustic guitar and his tender voice he was able to quickly convince the tent, but it was especially the quiet melancholy that stole the show."\n— Dansende Beren, Festival Dranouter 2026\n"Sharp and witty lyricism, delivered with a characteristic voice and storytelling style."\n— Luminous Dash, review of Moneyfiller (July 2026)\nlisten on vi.be\n\ninstagram
