Backrooms (2026), directed by twenty-year-old Kane Parsons, is a rock-solid psychological horror film. Based on his viral YouTube universe, it is a claustrophobic and visually stunning experience that develops a simple concept into one of the most successful cinema hits of A24. When furniture salesman Clark discovers a hidden portal in the basement of his store, he becomes trapped in another reality, the so-called "backrooms". His therapist tries to save him and discovers a mysterious labyrinth of abandoned office spaces that not only seem infinite, but also constantly change. As time fades, something inhuman also appears to be lurking just out of sight.
