Tower Music 2026 - Brecht Berteloot (BE)

Brecht Berteloot (°2001) grew up in an environment where everything is carillon. He therefore started his carillon studies at a young age in the Roeselare department of the Koninklijke Beiaardschool ‘Jef Denyn’ with Koen Cosaert. In the summer of 2022, Brecht obtained his diploma at the Koninklijke Beiaardschool in Mechelen. That same summer he was appointed in Bruges, where he forms a musical tandem as an assistant together with his father Wim Berteloot (city carillonneur) and fellow assistant Jean-Pierre Hautekiet. After his final exam, Brecht followed the specialization degree with Koen Van Assche. At KU Leuven, Brecht obtained a master's degree in Language and Literature and an educational master's in languages. Abroad, he studied advanced creative writing at The University of Oxford. Currently, Brecht still enjoys the Bruges carillon sounds and is working as a teacher of Dutch and English in secondary school and as a teaching assistant in political science at KU Leuven.
